According to the myth, Icarus fell from the sky because he flew too close to the sun and melted the wax on his wings. This myth was invented by people who seriously believed the sun was no farther away than Aaron Rodgers could throw a football.
Everyone knows that science and physics and mathematics are a liberal/progressive/socialist plot to undermine the American ideal of Liberty and justice for all (except for those who believe in science and physics and mathematics)
Physics hadn’t been invented yet, and the wings worked – as the story was originally told. The moral, in 700 BCE, was to recognize human limitations. Physics has been invented, so the story has been repurposed with a new moral for 2020, don’t blame the system when you’re an idiot.
Physics? Isn’t that a sciency thing? Republican physics sneer at gravity. They don’t like it, so it’s fake news and it doesn’t exist. They believe in the Wylie Coyote approach to gravity: just ignore it and one day like a miracle it will be gone.
Morals are there for a reason. Unfortunately, many include injury or death as way show how serious outcomes can become. But they do teach us two terms: folly and consequences, Recent events have have proven that one doesn’t exist without the other. Anybody for a better outcome?
According to J.M. Barrie, all that flight requires is a sprinkling of Pixie Dust and Happy Thoughts. While Pixie Dust seem to be in adequate supply, Happy Thoughts are completely out of stock, on back order, and probably won’t arrive until late next year. If then.
The election is over, the votes were counted behind closed doors with the windows covered and the observers removed in just enough places to have the correct candidate win, and the Big Lie continues.
@becida You’re right, those stupid Democrats! Sure, they managed to completely steal the presidential election but for some weird reason utterly failed to apply the same successful but devious and underhanded tactics to the 20 (out of 33) US Senate races and 211 (out of 435) House of Representatives races won by Republicans. Good thing we’re not trusting the running of the country to such incompetents, amirite?

Icarus is a story of hubris, more by his dad Daedulus than himself. He was just a dumb kid.

Sorry… this World works on Physics. You need Pure Magic to make self propelled flight work well. Even Harry Potter needed a Broom!
