I see a whitewash coming! Thief nabbed, money recovered, banana pie curative for Tara’s knee! Parents just glad kids are OK! I see a whitewash coming! 8^ (
These kids get away with more stuff than Timmie on Lassie!
So many chances to have had this as a meaningful arc, squandered on a “Nothing to see here, move along, move along” ending. Not even seeing the medical team.
Uh, maybe someone should tell ALL these people that serious crimes happened in the vicinity, and their non-reactions to such are really weird. It’s almost as if it’s poor storytelling, but how could that be?
For those of you complaining about Luann’s parents not questioning their daughter about why this robbery happened, please know that it’s only Monday now. A lot can happen between now and Saturday. Believe me, I’d like to see this happen, too.
So the arc continues and Tara-ra Boom-de-ay thinks all is clear. But notice Nancy, arms folded and and looking sideways and suspiciously at the trio, and thinking about checking out the security cameras.
How about NOT looking at the bigger picture? Let’s spare the girls, especially luann some life lesson and just be happy she and her friends are safe. This was a robbery and could have turned out VERY differently…very tragically different. The police caught the thief so any cash stolen was recovered. Luann and bernice nearly lost their friend Tara, there doesn’t need to be a lecture on top of it.
The Three Amigos. Just like I predicted. And Frank and Nancy are not angry with Luann, just relieved. They are more likely to be proud of their stand-up daughter. Stella the parole violator is probably gone for a serious stretch, the immediate question is whether Tara will bunk with the DeGroots or stay where she was staying when Stella got let out (?) from prison. Keep in mind all the girls did is risk, love, choose, help, share a trauma, but most important to forgive. Hilarity Ensues, sorry trolls.
By the white dressing on Tara’s knee the EMTs have been there and concluded she is okay. Now, is Tara still going to live in Utah since she still hasn’t anyplace to live locally?
Yes, Nancy – those sweet lil’ ole gals had no idea of any serious trauma that just happened there tonight. Just some friends havin’ some pie. The real trauma is having to have some banana pie because it was the only kind left.
So they caught Stella. And it looks like she took money from The Fuse, not Tara’s bag as some in here thought. Looks like the girls are thinking of forming a new Charlie’s Angels after their close call tonight.
But, can we be sure that Pitts Finest got the right thief? It’s late and dark on those mean streets and maybe the cops just nailed a poor hooker counting up her take for the evening. At least her patrons are being patriotic and “Buying American.”
Wow! Is it realistic that the police would have nabbed Stella that quickly? I don’t think so. I don’t think Tara would be laughing like she is in the last panel after she’s just been run over by a car either. I hope the Degroots don’t let those girls pull the wool over their eyes. What Luann did was wrong and Tara should have known better than to stand in front of Stella’s car.
Clearly, there will be consequences. The Degroots are gonna spring it on ‘em tomorrow. They’ve gotta pay for the pie. The Fuse isn’t some kind of charity, ya know.
Let them eat cake and wash the whole thing over as a bad dream and move on. Just friends helping friends. Don’t make it right, but the real criminal was exposed and Tara’s life will be the better for it.
Most folks after a traumatic situation need something to calm them, like a drink or a cigarette. Didn’t you ever wonder why the soldiers in WWII smoked like a chimney? G&K may have never really been in a traumatic situation because the last thing a person has is a slice of pie. H*ll, half the time folks are retching.
My problem with this is that for the past three weeks of this strip Bernice has been trashing Luann to everyone, just being horrible. Then she calls Tara a thief to her face and now they sit around laughing like they are in a sleep over. This arc has just been a waste. It’s like the writers decided they didn’t know where they were going with it and just decided to end it.
Good police work then. His relief was that we have no idea how many cousin thieves Tara might have. Even though Tara said, her cousin, instead of one of her cousins.
So now G&K will do one of two things. Either 1: The story arc ends right now and we won’t know what Nancy is referring to until much later, or 2: There will be four days of buildup to answer this question, then on Saturday we’ll find out that Puddles took a dump on Bernice’s bed or something like that..
Yes tell them that the cousin was arrested but on the other hand Frank & Nancy need to ask the girls why were they inside the business after hours and how did they get inside.
They nabbed Tara? That’s totally unexpected! I’m almost sad that she’s no longer a mince in the shadows. It’s nice to see the girls so happy and united ♡. Frank and Nancy are the best. Their only concern is about the girls’ trauma. And they are right! This is the important thing, the Trauma!!!
It looks like several steps (that we missed) have taken place, (1) the ambulance must have come since Tara’s knee appears bandanged, (2) the cops caught Stella following the tip on her license plate, (3) the three are celebrating item 2, (4) Nancy and Frank were contacted after (items 1 and 2) because Luann had to prove that she was NOT unlawfully entering the place herself (since she’s related to the owners) but was she or were they? Nancy’s half lidded eyes suggest that relief and concern are not all that she feels atm and there may be some consequences. But why are they refering to Stella as just a thief? her offenses are more than that. She literally attempted to murder or to severely injure someone. Also not said is what became of Stella after they “nabbed” her.
Right now the girls are “high” on the excitement of the night and their new found appreciation of each other. If this were real life, in a few hours they’ll realize how much danger they were in, and odd things will trigger that scary memory for the rest of their lives.
Wow, time moves so slow, and then in one cartoon the cousin is caught, the medics are done with Tara’s knee, the cops have their report, the parents have been briefed of the entire situation, and even Bernice has calmed down.
Someone else may have said this already, but I wonder if it was Tara’s cousin who got her to steal at Moony Uni in the first place which then got Tara kicked out.
“Stella who?” – that’s probably how the strip will handle this for the next few months, if not years, until, wait, don’t tell me, let me guess, she shows up with a new job – as the “assistant” to Ann Eiffel
And like I said this story is limping to an end with Luann and her friends gleefully eating pie, the criminal arrested and money returned. It’s good to know all is well in la la-la-land. Wonder what the new story will be? The Tiffany/Ox romance? The return of Ann Eifel? Probably Gunther and Bets although I would be really happy if it was Les and Punk! I just love Punk.
That was extremely Fast police work. They caught Stella before the girls could even finish their pie. It is not clear that the Parents know Tara was staying at the Fuse at night. Unless Bernice blabbed the cops would not have known about that. The 3 girls will not get any punishment for their dangerous and careless actions. Will Tara go back to her empty apartment? If Stella somehow gets out of jail, will anyone notify Tara so she can flee her apartment again?
All’s well that ends well. Looks like Stella got caught and perhaps all the money was also recovered. Tara got that knee fixed up and I’m sure Luann will get a stern talking to about her “braingasm”. Looks like Mom and Dad are just relieved that the girls are ok. This is a perfectly reasonable reaction from loving people. This was a good arc and now looks like Berniece and Tara each have a new friend.
yeah ‘they’ (mostly Tara) suffered some serious trauma but they (Luann and Tara) mostly brought it upon themselves. However, the good outcome (in spite of it all) is that Tara will stay with the group and not move to Utah (we hope).
Tell the girls what?? That the thief was caught but not the loot? That loss would seriously affect The Fuse and all who work there. Everyone might need to pitch in to help keep the business open.
@Cheapskate and company: The prisons of the US are packed full of people who did not walk into banks with guns and shoot, but with those who drove the car that brought them to the bank, whether the drivers knew what their passengers were going to do or not. The laws are supposed to take motive and intent into account, too. Someone who deliberately drives a car at someone else is intending harm. Someone who tries to help someone by letting them stay on a parent’s property is not intending harm. So Cheapie and those who share the thought that Luann is the major source of harm here, and not the person driving the car: may that which you insist on for Luann be done 1 million times unto you…
I’m wondering what it is that Nancy’s considering “telling them”. Could Frank and Nancy be considering selling The Fuse, if they haven’t done so already? Job openings for any or all three of them? (If that, how will Frank and Nancy pay her/them?) Or something else altogether?
I am wondering if Frank and Nancy know everything about these latest events. All they talk about is the “thief”. But there’s other aspects and more to be concerned about. Nancy says should we tell “them” ?? implying that whatever she has to say is of concern to all three, not just Luann.
For those of you (including myself) who were hoping to see some kind of lecture from the parental units, you’re going to be really disappointed. Head on over to Arcamax if you want to see in advance.

I know my above post sounds out of place, but it isn’t. I am trying to say that thieves aren’t smart and will take advantage of any situation where they think they can get away with money or, in the case of the drugstore, drugs, and money. I thought I should clarify what I was trying to get across in my post.

Well, that was quick.
Stella just set a record for the Strip’s shortest crime wave.
Now that Stella has been (temporarily) caught, there is no reason for Tara to leave town, right?
I mean, once Nancy finds out about Tara’s “plight” she’ll find shelter for the poor child, just like she did for Bernice. Maybe even offer her a job.
Heh. Bernice scored points with the DeGroots by fixing them pancakes.
And Tara? I dunno. She might be a good house painter or something. Maybe even a carpenter. Waitress? Why not?
Tara just needs to remember not to bring up that “nude modeling” gig while at the DeGroot dinner table. :)
