When I was a child, we had a cat that had had it’s front claws removed (yes, I’m familiar with this practice and it’s status in the pet world. Hold off on the negative comments.)
We also had a Blue Jay that excelled at teasing the neighborhood cats into tall thin trees. It would tease our cat high into the tree, where our cat would would cling helplessly swaying back and forth, crying at the top of its lungs for help. With no front claws, I think that the cat had no idea how to climb back down.
We’re talking 50+ years ago, and I can’t remember how we got the cat back down. Still remember the Blue Jay at the very top of the tree twittering at the cat.
First, seeing Jane crying is a first. Next, she didn’t just knock down the tree. And it appears he has learned just what others have learned – cats don’t want help, just staff.
Been there (sort of), had to hire a professional to get him down. Did you know that the fire department don’t do this anymore? I had to hire a tree service guy. Fortunately my cat wasn’t a sabertooth. The End.

Perhaps Jane should go up there and bring it down herself.

That “cat” hasn’t eaten yet.

It’s a cat. What more reason does it need?

They always come down. Have you ever seen a cat skeleton in a tree?

Not helping, Thor.

The cat is probably meditating on the meaning of life (as all cats do?).

Bless him. His heart is in the right place. He just seems anxious to keep his eyes and fingers in their right places too.

I guess that the cat can stay there if it likes.

It’ll come down, it’s just a little unsettled after the move (she bought it from the guy in today’s Off the Mark).
