I appreciate the folks who do the picking and loading, especially those who work the worst weather days. Somehow the grocery supply on the call-ahead pick up cart seems larger than when I load the cart myself. Not much difference the order, but it just looks like more in those handy crates.

When I worked days running the dairy department, I would see couples where each had a basket this full and a small herd of kids with them

Hope they had good jobs, groceries are getting expensive

Complain, complain, complain. Now I have an issue with people buying the company lottery pool in the middle of the day and I want to pay from my gas. 10 pages of 649, 1 page with Encore, 3 scratches, oh please check my winners and convert them to tickets…

There’s no one in the Express Lane the other lanes have lines a mile long…the cashier for the Express Lane waves me over & as soon as I unload my cart…bam…suddenly there are 5 people with 3 items or less flooding the Express Lane.

My wife and I grew up in Brooklyn in the 1950s. Although Brooklyn is a big city unto itself, it is (or was) a conglomeration of contiguous villages. There were local shops of every description within walking distance of one’s apartment.

So our moms shopped for that night’s dinner every day. We were lucky; we had a refrigerator and not an icebox, so we could store more food. The “freezer” was big enough for two ice trays and two ice cream bars.

When my wife and I got married, I was on active duty and lived in an area where one had to DRIVE to the market to get food. I had to break my wife of the habit of daily shopping.

We now work on the “hitch up the horses and ride into town to stock up on supplies” model.

Personally, if that were me and the guy behind me didn’t want to use the self checkout, I would let him go in front of me.

If he went to Amazon he would not be standing in the check-out lane. Figuring this cartoon appeared in the 21st century.

I think a lot of you are missing the point of the cartoon – which is so apropos for today! My brother told me that the grocery stores in his area are out of the particular Keurig coffee pods which he likes. Someone bought out what was in stock at the store and went on Amazon to sell them at a ridiculous price.
