Imagine hoe different this story would be like if Luann had gone to Jack to vent. He would have suggestions with jobs she could get that doesn’t involve begging from her parent. And there wouldn’t be cheap jokes at Luann’s sake about “when’s supper?” That would be a so much better story. Sadly Karen has to demean Luann at every turn.
Luann isn’t entirely independent yet, but it is big of her to decline taking over her mother’s position at the business she owns. If she thinks she can find her own job, let her try. She might find a job she loves more. What is unreal is that she suddenly wants to eat. Eating should be far from her mind at the moment. She has a job to look for.
All these lame predictions. You know that GnK will pull the rug out from under most of them. Beyond the projection and judgment that so many make here a solution of some sort will emerge from the arc. There is nothing all that unusual about a young maturing (this is a Luannverse hilarious way of showing that process) person who is used to home cooking wanting it, in the middle of a crises involving how she is going to handle it. For those who spend so much of their thoughts demeaning this drawn character, remember she is going to community college, a decision she made I believe in part to ease the finances of her parents instead of a four-year college (smart decision) has a car she is paying for and pays for her own books and I assume materials. This issue involves a JOB she is working at by the way. Acting doofus does not obviate those facts, so whatever happens I bet Luann will come out of this with a solution. Not ready to predict yet though. Lets see where this arc leads.
Nah. Truth is, Lu probably doesn’t want her parents to be her boss.
But seeing that both parents are present, perhaps there’s another “wildcard” lurking in the shadows besides Lu taking some low-end, soul destroying, thankless, “job” that she’s hardly suited for.
Like Luann announcing that she’s dropping out of college?
And considering her “desperate” financial plight, if Lu takes a job outside of the Fuse, what do you think the chances are that Ann Eiffel is going to wind up being her “boss?” ;-)
GO LUANN! She has spoken and her parents are in disbelief! BRAVA! Find your future on your own! Even if it’s really difficult and can drive you crazy. I’m sure she’s capable of it ♡. Her friends (not Bernice) will be able and happy to help her find something. The help of friends is not like that of the parents, they then don’t throw it back that at you to tell you how incapable of living by yourself you are.
Typical 20-year-old…. “I can take care of myself. I’m not a kid, I’m 20. so stop telling me what to do, okay?? …..So, what’s for dinner? Oh, by the way, my car is making that funny noise again, would you please look at it?”
Okay, Luann usually has responses more appropriate to third graders than college students. I don’t think she’s that mature today. Even she should realize the question she’s asking is total negation of her claim.
What would happen if the “owners” had to fire Luann? It could happen. By the way – going back to why Luann lost her job at the preschool – speaking as an exprincipal, this was no where near a dismissal offense. At most, it would be a verbal reprimand, “Luann, don’t let this happen again. If a situation like this comes up again, please come and get me.”
I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say that Karen Evans has a pretty low opinion of teenagers, based on how often she uses the one based on her as a punching bag. She couldn’t let Luann look good for a single strip without a “ha-ha, just kidding, she actually sucks” right at the end.
Luann’s character has devolved significantly since about January of 2019 when she made an appearance at the Gulag and started the whole “Date-Pic” sequence. Almost EVERY other character has evolved.Nancy went to work at The Fuse. Gunther found a new love. Bernice leaves home and gets a new love interest. Tiffany gave up her pity party and started succeeding on her path toward being a Mogul. Les has become less crude behaviors directed at Luann at the Gulag and Tiffany at the Berger diner. Jack presents as following his vet-tech path and played matchmaker for Nil. Nil received his own art showing. Ben York has moved back to town with kids, sans wife. Tara exhibited a foolhardy kind of bravery in the Fuse robbery attempt. Bets becomes less “aggressive, dominant, bossy” as described by Bernice. Even Tom Ferrell received a face!
Luann, on the other hand, fumbles the ball repeatedly with boyfriend materiel Jack, stumbles at her TA job with Zébo, gets in trouble with her parents in the Tara sleep in episode, exhibits a prurient interest in Gunther’s love life, loses job at Kids 1st, and has yet to appear in school.
Oh hum…yawn. I wonder where Tara is? I think I would rather watch that show.Rowdy chicks maybe some trouble but they are often whole a lot fun and are seldom boring. There is a quote that goes, “Well behave women rarely make history”.Laurel Thatcher Ulrich. Rock On!
Having grown up to this point in her so-called life without any discernible maturing, Luann may be beyond repair, destined to remain a girl-child the rest of her days.
1 step forward… 1 step back…. sigh… if Luann had direction in her life, e.g. in school and in work, i believe she wouldn’t be making bad decisions that get her into trouble: i.e. 1st—> letting Tara camp out at the Fuse, 2nd —> letting Tara come onto the school site w/o authorization and w/ archery gear. It’s not Tara that’s the problem; it’s Luann not exercising good judgement and not being decisive. She now has a chance to make good come of this, i.e. by searching for a second job similar to the one she has now and creating a major (at college) consistent with what she loves. but will she do any of these things??? I doubt it.

Looked like we were going somewhere there for a second. Bright side: Luann is not asking Nancy to nurse her.

LuAnn could ask her parents who they know that has a business or may know where jobs are. Plenty of help wanted signs all around, too.
