Why is Lu in the park gooding around and not checking posters, putting up more, talking to people and giving out cards with her number and a photo of Puddles with a reward to do everything to find puddles and get him safely back. I don’t care if it is Sunday – if Lu is going to be featured – let’s see her doing what is right. Since she was too dull to make sure he had a tag. Disappointed in her hanging out and not working to find her dog.
Nil, that particular art peice failed. You will have to fail at everything before you dub yourself a failure as an artist. Tove Jansson was a failure at painting, but her comic drawings and stories of Moomintroll made her famous throughout the world. And she had thought of those just as a little entertainment for herself.
I remember Mad Magazine had a cartoon periodically that featured what someone said, followed by a visual balloon of what they were actually thinking. For example, a friend says, “Your new hairdo looks great,” with a balloon showing the friend throwing up.
Nil is really a great artist, but he doesn’t consider that Luann is also an artist and her way of thinking is different from the others. Still, it’s nice to see these three together♡. They are all great friends and this Sunday strip breaks the tension of the main story of the last few weeks a bit.
The problem here, as I see it, is these kids do not read the Luann comic. If they did, they would know the dog is Luann’s. I am surprised no one came up with this, and this is like, what, the second or third week?
I’d like to know how many people see the Luann strip on Sundays, but never see the strip the rest of the week. May be one reason an arc pauses one day a week.
Is it art? Or even artistic? I don’t think so. At best it might be considered performance art. Art is communication! Communication must happen between something a person makes and how it affects a response in another person. Art is a statement that is given and received. This does none of that. It’s a parlor trick at best.
So what is Luann thinking? Didn’t Jack sit as a nude for art class a few years back. I believe she is thinking about that! It is artistic, and she is smiling and looking at Jack.
Although his generation is allergic to work – I wonder if Nils will ever actually study art technique, the masters, modern art (not just his sideshow) and technical drawing. Seeing as how he really seems to want to be an artist, maybe he should try putting in the work.
It’s okay, art died some time ago. Now there’s no such thing as a bad artist, failing at art, etc., it’s all a matter of marketing. Learn how to sell stuff or get a good agent.

Seriously? They do a Sunday strip about Luann at the dog park, right after her dog Puddles has been abducted?!?
And Nil, we saw your show… you were always a failure as an artist! LOLTemplo S.U.D. almost 3 years ago

i am getting so old, i think you could put these cartoon panels in any order and still have the same result…so… “Get Off My Lawn” I guess…

Luann is remembering the time she spritzed herself with too much perfume in an attempt to get Aaron Hill’s attention.

Considering the garbage that passes for “art” nowadays, this strip makes perfect sense.

Not to worry, Nil.
You’ll have a great future ahead of you as a career politician.
And HARK!
Panel one!
There’s a shadow person enjoying the dog park and walking their dog and it’s on a (GASP) LEASH!
Luann, take NOTE!. ;-)

Now if Nils meets up with Stef or Bets, he can read their thoughts and find Puddles. Oh but wait, Sunday plot can’t influence weekday plot. Crud.

Wouldn’t it be funny if today was the last day of this strip? All the storylines left hanging. It would be just like the Sopranos.
