Microcrystalline tests are the latest thing in law enforcement, being adopted by more and more jurisdictions in the last few years. They’ve actually been around since the late 1800s, but they fell out of favour in the 1970s as labs started using expensive instruments rather than microscopes. The problem with instrument tests is that they can take up to a matter of months, delaying suspects from being prosecuted. Those places that have adopted these tests have made considerable prograss in clearing their court backlogs.
“Microcrystal tests, using polarized light microscopy (PLM), can identify most illicit drugs specifically and quickly (usually within a few minutes), and they are inexpensive compared to other methods (https://www.mccroneinstitute.org/v/777/Modern-Compendium-of-Microcrystal-Tests-for-Illicit-Drugs-and-Diverted-Pharmaceuticals).”
Of the 25 most frequently reported drugs, 18 already have known, published microcrystal tests. (You need to use a specific reagent for the drug you are looking for. There is also a known test for ephedrine, which is often used in clandestine methamphetamine laboratories.
It looks like what they have there is microcrystalline wax. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microcrystalline_wax
All the white shirts and coats had me thinking it was the colorist’s day off! So, just when there was hope that this story was finally wrapping up, it looks like Mike in his sadistic glee moved the finish line back.
Is this tech saying that both what Tracy gave Matt to supply Coffyhead AND what was in Coffyhead’s inventory tested negative? Then what was the whole point of the covert ransactions in the first place?
The case against Coffeyhead is going to be thrown out of court…insufficient evidence. Matt probably gets community service…giving lessons to the general public on how to do the six arms flailing dance.
A nice shine on your shoes…what did Tonsils try to peddle here….grounded up shoe polish? Surely MCU could have given him the real thing from the police property room. Seems to me a lot of corners were cut doing this storyline. The next one Mike and Shelley needs to have: teeth in it, new villains and can last longer than two or three months.
So, Matt took a harmless drug substitute (shades of Saul Goodman planting baby powder in Howard’s locker to make him look like a cocaine user) to a meeting with a known criminal who was holding his girlfriend hostage? He was taking a big chance that Coffyhead, who goes ballistic on a barista when he’s unhappy with an espresso, wouldn’t just plug Dot then & there. Explain, please.
Holy Moly! We’ve been had! No narcotics at all? What, then, was Matt delivering that so agitated Coffyhead? Could it have been nothing more dangerous than high quality coffee beans?!
Talk about a plot twist! Darn forensic scientists….

Good morning™, No cases !
Coffyhead goes free, Matt is exonerated and goes on to win Dottie’s heart. Are we having a pretty pink bow moment yet ?

So Tonsils did pull a trick on CoffyHead. Not a hidden gun but dummy junk.

Dare I say it? I will do so at great risk:
There could be an upcoming crossover with Underdog.
Hey, we’ve had Mister Magoo and Popeye, so anything is possible.

Lots of drugs only effective when MIXED with something else, but harmless by themselves.(Such as alcohol).
Matt will have to come clean if he wants Dot to speak a civil wordto him sometime in the next 5 years.
Coffyhead should be held on general principle.I mean,Tracy KNOWS he’s a bum…..
