when was the last time you actually helped around the house, Earl?

Man I saw that one coming from 3 panels away…

I mostly wash all the dishes around here. (Spouse is a gourmet cook. I am a gourmet dishwasher.) We have a thick rubber pad that does in front of the sink, counter, or stove as needed, but I don’t use it. I slip it to the side and sit on a stool instead.

And for his second good deed, Roscoe gets to use his chair all day!

He should have gotten her a hammock.

Earl: “I bought this rug for you.” Opal: “No. You bought it for yourself.”

Earl: “Now I’m doing the dishes for you.” Opal: “You’re doing them for and by yourself.”

I do not think that Earl is capable of doing anything thoughtful.

Earl should’ve stopped when he mentioned “rug in front of the sink”. Anything else would’ve been taken wrong (and it was).

I have rubber mats in front of counters, sink and stove.

In this day and age, why don’t they have a dishwasher? And I mean a machine, not a human. We’ve had one for over 30 years…

Just right for her to trip on a break a hip.

Earl ended up doing a good deed for his own feet

we have that well advertised rubbery mat in front of our sink too…it is rally nice and ‘cooshie’ when washing dishes…or so i’m told…i am constantly tripping on it and the non’skid surface catches my shoe sole as has me screetching to a halt…wife loves it…i on the other hand…

Bought her a new ergonomic mop for her birthday.

I want to see the rug!!!!

Roscoe feels for Earl!

Tried this this morning, if looks could kill. Substituted unloading the dishwasher.

I think Roscoe’s in agreement with Earl in the fourth panel.

My second wife was 24 years older than I and in graduate school and internship for years. I did most of the household chores because I had been living the bachelor life for ten years and was used to it. It would have taken twice as long for her to do it and left less time for us to go on day hikes in the wilderness of Point Reyes, CA.

I think Earl may be sleeping with Roscoe for a few days for this one.

Wife won’t let me go anywhere near the kitchen. Its her area and as she said, if you want something, ask for it and I will get it for you

She never appreciates ANYTHING..!!!!!

Where did that saying come from anyway? And what the heck does it even mean? I’ve done good deeds with no punishment, so it doesn’t make sense.
