Opal, what’s the problem here? He said he helped a Little Old Lady. While you might complain about being called Old, he did call you Little so it all evens out in the wash.
Doing some volunteer work would be good for them. I enjoy mine very much, and have, over the past 20 years, been involved in 3 different volunteer situations. I think therapy dog work has turned out to be the best fit for my beagle and I at this time in our lives.
It counts! I cared for my wife for the last two years of her life. Wrecked my back, abandoned my business and eventually lost the love of my life but totally worth it .
Sounds like here with me. My hubby is disabled, yet mid May I had a bad walking accident, had two dogs with me and my daughter, I fell, daughter helped me up as I could not stand, later trip to hospital ER found out which we did not know hospital does not work on fracture from that fall lower femur above the hip, I did get appointment for Advanced Orthopedics, Dr. fracture has to heal on its own, no cast no surgery, my hubby has to help me up, then my adult kids has to, 12th of July 2nd x-ray,, really praying healed then therapy. Daughter and man found the location caused my fall, I never want this again. My muscles are hurting.

If he said “big old lady”, she might think that he was talking about her weight.

Still counts. However, hanging out around a crossing all day may be considered suspicious.

She could volunteer if she wants to, unless she doesn’t mind hearing Earl complain about it. She doesn’t HAVE to drag Earl along.

Why did it take 6 boy scouts to help the little old lady cross the street?
Because that’s not where she was going.

It kind of looks as though the corner of Earl’s moustache is slightly curled, in the last panel, in what looks like a sassy smirk. :)
