When is Lucy going to learn not to bad mouth the old school building.
We really need giving all the money to all the schools we can provide. The teachers that are still there do a tremendous job of caring for our kids, settling their fights, feeding them and, from time to time, getting in a little teaching of language, science, geography, and math. Hey, if nothing else, they’re the best buy in child care out there.
If you can find waste in public schools, feel free to point it out. Trying to do the best they can with inadequate funding is pretty much the norm, and if you can find an extra couple of dollars to fund needs that are not being met, I’m sure they would appreciate it.
Nothing faster than August! I loved this strip and always read it daily. Today I laughed out loud not once, not twice, but 3 times. So freaking true! Thanks!
School Building, I like ya. But if you think I’m not gonna criticize the olds, maybe stop whining about the young’uns and about how great things were in your day (when certain people weren’t allowed in certain restaurants) first. Also stop voting and being in positions in power.
They fumbled with Covid when they closed the schools, they should have stayed closed.1- Leave one school in each town open for Labs, theatrics and sports .2-Sell off all other schools and the country makes billions for property values plus those schools you do not need, Principal, vice principal, office staff, nurses, lunch staff, bus drivers and hall moniters again saving the country Billions of dollars.3- Would not need substitute teachers! would save millions on the budget! We got along for 1 year perfectly with this and colleges have been doing it for years!
If I knew what the building looked like, I might agree.
It was never the building that made me dread going back to school. Though as I look back on it now, there was only one school where I looked forward to being back in the building even though I didn’t look forward to being back in school. All the rest I was either indifferent to or didn’t particularly notice the building because I was too young.
I, too, am an aging structure. But I cannot drop a brick on your head. That would be silly. But I can deal you a right ding around the head and shoulders with my cane. Please bear that in mind the next time you’re tempted to say, “C’mon, gramps. Get a move on.” I’m probably moving as fast as I can. Thank you. Signed, Your Friendly Neighborhood Curmudgeon.

Well, excuse the school building for being old and crummy, Lucy! Maybe if your parents helped pitch in some funds.
