Oh yes, very old. Terminator dates all the way back to 1984. Although, Baba Mouse is probably referencing one of the sequels, Terminator 2, I would guess. That was more in her time, 1991. (The line was a popular one, it was used in several movies.)
No, it’s because if you’re left unsupervised, you’re going to drive yourself (and Iggy too) off a cliff, and Beatrix will probably be in the passenger seat live-streaming it all the way down.
The transitions in panels 2, 3, and 4 are adorable. I can just see the kittens going from “We’re Brave Explorers!” to “We’re just gonna magnetize ourselves to the adult in the room, thanks,” when the sky goes boom. And Baba’s “…Eyup” expression as she hugs the kits in panel 4 just sells it. She has also clearly pegged Ora as the biggest Distraction Risk, since Iggy’s not fully in Brainless Kitten age any more and Bea knows that Baba Mouse means Business.
For those that indulge in Cat’s Cafe, a new one dropped but it is labeled Oct. 23. I’m sure it wasn’t there earlier today (Sunday). It’s titled “Tales from Outside the Comfort Zone.” Very Halloween-ish, that.
Of course Baba was wearing her scarf under the rain slicker. I love the group hug/huddle in panel 3 and the way Baba just tucks new girl kitty under her arm instead of grabbing her by the scruff of her neck.
Ora Zella certainly is adaptable. Terrified in panel 4, but in 5 she just looks like a kid enjoying an airplane ride. Lupin looks relieved that Baba has come to the rescue, and it is possible we will see “thank you, figment of Puck’s imagination” level gratitude from Elvis, once he’s finished assessing the new kittens.
Old Timey? Listen here youngin’! I was 18 when that movie reference, came out! That was in 1984, so that movie is only 38…er…ummm…I think I need to go and take a nap, now!
You know, by now the Woman and the Man could have rescued them, fed them, made safe beds for them and everyone could be asleep once again. Just saying.
Oh!! I like that! I’ll have to use it next time we have a thunderstorm. I just normally say, "boom boom babies ". Oops has actually started to come out of hiding for part of the storms. And for a former colony cat, that’s pretty good. And love how all the kids cling onto baba mouse.
Further kitten or rather cub news. The Smithsonian National Zoo has a new litter of cheetah cubs. Two males and the first litter for their 4 yr old Mom.

Baba Mouse took off/pushed off her raincoat hood. So she’s not taking the three kittens outside. Where, oh where is she taking them?..

Creedence Clearwater Revival: Have You Ever Seen the Rain?
Someone told me long ago
Kittens think they know it all
But I know they still need a guiding paw!
When the storm ends I can say
There’ll be another sunny day,
But right now there’s the lightning and thunder!
…….
Kitties, I know
You need to get through the rain
Kitties, I know,
You need to get through the rain,
I’ll see you to the sunshine!
…….
Tomorrow and days to come
There will be rain and snow and sun,
But we will see it through together!
Adventures, challenges and more,
We have seen it all before,
We’ll see you through all kinds of weather!
…….
Kitties, I know
You need to get through the rain
Kitties, I know,
You need to get through the rain,
I’ll see you to the sunshine!

It’s close to midnight
Something evil’s lurking in the dark
It’s growling thunder
It makes a sound that almost stops their hearts
They want to scream
But Baba lets them know they’re gonna make it
She gives a squeeze
As horror comes quite loud from the skies
‘Cause they’re pint-sized
And this is thriller, thriller night
But Baba’s gonna save them
From any beast about to strike
You know it’s thriller, thriller night
She’s saving their nine lives inside a killer, thriller, ow

Baba is a wise old girl, but maybe she should have tucked Bea under her other arm.
scyphi26 about 2 years ago
It is, though it’d be old even by Baba’s standards (seeing she’s confirmed in the past that she’s a 90s kitty, not an 80s kitty).

Anyone else read that second to the last line in panel 4 with an Austrian accent? (ala Terminator 2)
arolarson Premium Member about 2 years ago
Poor little Iggy is not liking any of this and probably feels rotten and needing his antibiotics. So the sooner he sees Dr Mann again the better!

Well, Bea is only a kitten, “The Terminator” would be an old movie to her. Heck, I’m 60, and I consider it old!

There actually was a thunderstorm here in Oregon. That’s actually very unusual for where I live and it didn’t last too long, but it was really bad.
