As others have put it, it’s a choice between accepting questions without answers, or answers that can’t be questioned.

One Christmas my sister accompanied her Catholic friend to a Christmas service to join in the carol singing. Father Frank, the priest, spotted her while he was delivering his sermon, came down from his pulpit to point at her and thundered,

“Do you believe that Jesus Christ is our Lord and Saviour?”

She replied “No!” and walked out.

I could have warned her about Father Frank. My Catholic neighbour had been terrorized by him for years.

Get them in as young as possible. Training is to keep them on a very tight leash and to maintain strict control at all times by using anger, threats, fear and punishment.

Been there, done that and when got that taste of freedom said F*** THIS.

On the whole, the priests I had growing up were nice. But I only saw them on Sundays. It was around the time of the Second Vatican council, so that may have had an impact.

The real question is “Obey WHAT”.

For the Catholic Church it is the “Catechism of the Catholic Church”. The Bishops who serve the Teachings of the church as for us to follow THAT, no them. The others are a danger to the path of Jesus.

You all have “free will”, but WE don’t permit you to use it in any way or which WE don’t approve. Imagine a community where one was forced to observe a specific religious doctrine. Well, a lot of people you know do exactly that. [“Hillary is a witch.”]

If you went to a Parochial school the phrase “It’s not nice to mess with Mother Superior.” , complete with ominous lightning and thunder, might come to mind.

For me, the best part of this one is the pup. He’s a trip to watch and to imagine what he’s like to own.

Over the generations, most of us have learned that unquestioning obedience to a single mind is likely to leave many conflicts between seeing and believing.

I was raised in the Episcopal church and went to school there for eight years. Fortunate that they really encouraged us to learn and understand, not just accept. There was no “this is the only right way” garbage. So I never felt guilty about leaving Xtianity.

A better edict might have been either “Believe without question” or “Believe without a reason.” Those are part of the reason I stopped believing in junior high (middle school nowadays).

In reality questing your faith is biblical (1 Thessalonians 5:21). Questions are healthy in all aspects of life. The problem is that people think that asking the question is the answer, it is not. Ask yourself the question, then look into yourself and find the answer.

My main point is do not let the fact that you are asking a question be the only reason why you start or stop believing something.
