My first car was a 1948 Chevrolet. I got it in the summer of ’63.

There were no vehicle inspections when I bought my first car, a 1964 Corvair. This was back in 1974. I drove it for 2 years, until the gas tank fell off.

’67 Mustang GT 390. Truly a “fix-or-repair-daily”. Set me on the path to a career in auto mechanics…

The first time I saw a Yugo, it was on a showroom floor. I leaned over and was looking under it when the salesman asked what I was looking at. I told him I was trying so see the blades. I had never seen an inclosed lawn mower before.

    How about borrowing your parents’ car – a ‘75 Gremlin – when you’re 6’4" tall? I tell you, you haven’t lived until…..

Indiana had required inspections in the 70s, gave it up because too many people “knew someone” who could get them the sticker. Unfortunately, inspections don’t correct the defects of the idiots behind the steering wheel who don’t know how to use headlights or turn signals.

1969 Chrysler Newport, Army Green…After my dad got it home is when we looked in the trunk…no floor to the trunk…the gas tank was hanging by wire coat hangers…So dad bought a piece of plywood, cut it to shape, drilled a few holes, and made a floor for my trunk. Then he more securely fastened the gas tank to it.
