I’m starting to think that SP is rerunning this one strip a lot, with different dialogue each time. If so, he must have stolen the idea from Garry Trudeau.
World’s 3 greatest brainwasters: worry, guilt, and jealousy. If you can do something about the situation you’re in, go do it; if not, don’t nag your neurons about it.
“Ah, but to spend a tortured evening staring at the floor / Guilty and alive once more!” “Fie on Goodness,” from Camelot; music by Frederick Lowe, book and lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner – 1960.
There is a lot of truth to this. Guilt is a nasty cycle that causes a lot of people to do unhealthy things to try and compensate for the guilt that we feel. This ends up producing more guilt, which causes us to seek out the tool that we try to use to reduce the feeling of guilt more.
Look for ways that will help you break that cycle.
