I’m sure the current history lesson by Tracy has been very rewarding for everyone, and I’m glad for you all. Especially that Curator of the Bizarre Freakstrike1.
For myself it’s felt like a long, drawn out, fake Minit Mystery.
So 3 guys attempt an armed robbery of a bank, and after a brief shootout, the general attitude is “gee whiz, they got away, but by golly, we’ll get them if they ever show up here again!!”???
“warning shot”? I thought Goodwin was inside the bank when he fired. How on Earth could that have been a “warning shot” for Tracy, who was outside the bank at the time? & now Wolfe apparently just turns up on the street, after having made his escape from Zeck’s hideout? Mike can write better than this.
Tracy “doesn’t know” [yet] the Jones Boys Gang, so continuity is preserved, as we out this side of the Fourth Wall learn from this post-shootout chat between Tracy and Goodwin (“Isn’t that convenient?” with best Arte Johnson accent), while the uniform cops and their “black-and-whites” work the crime scene in the background (for those too young to recall, “back in the day” squad cars were routinely black-and-white, as, coincidentally, my Mini is today).
Goodwin “wanted some cash”? —I’ll take that as an example of his notorious caustic wit, although I admit that it could be the truth. He sees “someone” he knows? Could Wolfe have escaped and is now conveniently showing up at the scene of the Federal Bank heist?! That could mean that Zeck’s secret lair/HQ is very nearby, which in turn could explain how Zeck could have been taking coffee at the Cafe-Across-from-Federal-Bank just as it all went down.
Now it remains for Tracy and company to take down Arnold before he can personally off Dick Tracy….
Insert Ace Venture, Pet Detective cameo >here<. Or, better yet, Ace Crawford (for those of us who are Tim Conway fans).
“Tim Conway stars as a trench-coated private investigator who always solves the case and catches the bad guy, despite his constant bumbling. The show was broadcast on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET. Only five episodes were aired.”
The Conway series curse continued. We’ll not go into RANGO here.
“From across the busy street their eyes met. Feelings, hidden even from themselves kindled as they felt the unspoken need for a touch, a caress, a moment alone with the other. Heedless of the traffic, the hustle and bustle of the crowd, they raced toward each other, uncaring, finally free of all social constraints. Their unexpected separation had kindled a burning, a desire, that neither had ever felt before. As they embraced in the intersection all traffic ceased, the WORLD seemed to cease for one, single, joyous moment. Until the shot rang out and broke the silence…..”
Due to this bank robbery, I will never know what that cab driver told Tracy and Goodwin. The address must be the reason Tracy got a police car. It was located further than their shoe leather could take them.
1-DT: Nice shot, Annie Oakley (sneer) – you almost hit that broadside of the barn outside of town. ARCH ENEMY: Yeah, well I was aiming at your ridiculous hat but the bullet veered off at the sight of it.
2- …Hey look! Is that my old pal…SAM CATCHEM? DT: That guy in the leprechaun suit?
ARCH DE TRIOMPH: HEY SAM! IT’S ME – GOODWIN!
SAM picking up his pace: Uh, wrong guy. My name is uh… Golda Meir. I got important business at the U.N.? Gotta run… Geez! I can’t even avoid that guy in Tracyville of all places!
Editor’s Note: While David Ben-Gurion would’ve been a more “time” appropriate choice for Prime Minister, it was decided that readers would be more familiar with the name of Golda Meir.
I noticed yesterday that many posters felt Mike is being treated poorly. This is ridiculous.
Mike is being treated like a Prince compared to the level of loathing, hatred, revulsion, hostility, ridicule, and contempt Dick Locher was forced to endure during his final years of faithful service to the strip. It was downright deplorable and is still a stain of shame many who are still commenting must bear.

Good thing Archie happened to be in the bank looking to get cash. Who does he know in Tracy’s town? There is only one logical answer.

Ahhh, Mike’s using the Dick has seen them but doesn’t know who they are to keep canon. Sneaky, but this another Shiitake multi plot story attempt.
