I love it when Lupin’s deafness is showcased not as a disability, but just another thing about Lupin – in this case, a superpower! The food processor is no threat to him!

I’m with the clowder on this one … The one time I tried to make salsa with the food processor, I went too far and had to turn it into gazpacho.

I love the tails in panel three. You know exactly which one belongs to who.

The year we had a momma raccoon with babies in our kitchen soffit (waited until they were old enough to be out of the house to patch up the hole) I felt so guilty using the food processor. They would go from happily purring and playing to total silence. I’m so sorry guys, but this is my kitchen! I gotta cook somewhere!

Leave the reporting on loud appliances and power tools to Lupin.

I empathize with the cats. I have a blender that I love, but I have to wear earplugs when I use it.

I can’t tolerate the sound of the beaters on a hand held mixer hitting the sides of a metal mixing bowl.

My coffee grinder sends all my kids under the bed.

I shouldn’t laugh at the scattering poofs…especially while Lupin just stands around sipping coffee and blissfully unaware.

Georgia knows cats! Before using the coffee grinder, I must warn Hemingway the Cat to prevent him from leaping straight up into the air.

Thats an clever touch that Lupin doesnt run away from the food processor because hes deaf.

I love Iggy’s little pooch tail as he flees with the others. And Tiny Bops of Justice is great!

My girl Jez concurs. She hangs out in the kitchen any time I’m in there, but whenever I was even about to run the food processor, she was “outta here in second gear”.

I’m guessing Lupin isn’t running away because he can’t hear much/anything. My father would sometimes do that with his hearing aid when my mother blabbed too much.

My absolute favorite bit is panel 3, where Lupin is just calmly sipping his coffee, paw in pocket.

And the term Salad Kibble just cracks me up! Thanks for the laughs, Georgia!

Yup. Years ago we found out a certain, now deceased, cat was deaf through his not running away when I used the blender. He got first licks forever after no matter what I was blending. All that time we thought he was just a bit more aloof than the others. The present clowder behaves like Georgia’s, any kitchen appliance sends them scattering away. Except, of course, running the can opener or pulling out the proper knife to slice freshly cooked fish or other meat. I swear they can tell which knife I am pulling out of the block by the sounds. (When cooking animal based protein we always add a bit more to feed the cats and dogs because we know they will always be begging for whatever we are making). The joys of living with pets.

Puck is quite fluffy. It’s a good look for him.

I have a chart of noise levels and their hazard ratings. Blenders are rated at 90 dB. Sounds over 85 dB for extended periods can cause permanent hearing loss, in this case 30 minutes or more.

I like the crushed ice you get in take out cold beverages, so I asked for and received a countertop ice crusher for Christmas one year. That little thing makes such an eardrum busting noise that I can’t stand to use it. It now sits in the highest cabinet over the kitchen sink, the one that requires a ladder to reach.

A nearby ice cream chain is advertising peanut butter kibble as its flavour of the month. Any ideas about what ingredients might be in it?

CUTE TINY BOPS OF JUSTICE ARE COMING TO SAVE US.

We have BIG garage doors. We always warn each other when we are opening one. The cats hate them too. We say ‘DOOR’ and they tense up. Last week I put my hand on the opener and they both took off running before it opened.

Puck steps up to the podium as he gets ready to defeat the relative of the evil vacuum cleaner, this is it people the fight of the century and puck unleashes the TINY BOPS OF JUSTICE! Super effective at getting rid of evil vacuum cleaners and vacuum cleaner relatives. Food processor unleased the VERY LOUD NOISE how will Puck stand for this? BY UNLEASHING THE FURIOUS BOPS OF JUSTICE AND FENDING OFF THIS VERY LOUD FOOD PROCESSOR OMC HE DID IT THE FANS GO WILD Puck raises his head in truimph!
