To note that he’s a laughingstock would be both true and rude.

There’s a killer on the loose. A brutal, nasty freeze

Victims stiff as popsicles, yet not the kind that please

The palate on a summer’s day when trying to stay cool

The case now dropped in Tracy’s lap. He’s partnered with a fool.

It’s a chin-off!

Another rerun! Tracy’s dream about Fearless Fosdick originally ran from June 26 to July 3, 2016.

Oh well, let’s get the train back on the track

Time to look forward instead of looking back

the pain and shame of the story just finished

In no way make my love for the strip diminished

I can always hope and dream that the day

Mike gets inspired is quickly on it’s way

When that day arrives for all of us to see

Very disappointing question from a original member of club Magpie.

It’s never as simple as; “One from column A, one from column B!”

But to partially answer your question, Locher had an excuse. He was very old and had served Dick Tracy faithfully for decades. For me, his stories had a lightheartedness to them. I enjoyed reading them. I always disliked the venom directed towards him. He knew when it was time to leave.

Everyone seems to agree Mike has slipped a notch. What is he doing about it? Nothing. His stories lack any suspense, action or genuine humor.

I’d still take Locher over current Mike.

Where is Joe Patterson when we need him to get this strip back on track? The last story was dreadful and now a rerun??? Chet would be ashamed of what’s become of his beloved strip.

I remember how Fearless Fosdick would shoot up a place and leave big round bullet holes everywhere!

Gee, the WGA is on strike…did Mike Join them? What’s with the repeats – AGAIN! I want to see old Dick Tracy, I’ll watch the serials, the films, and the 1950’s TV series…come on Mike…

If I didn’t see that this was a rerun by others here, I would’ve assumed that they forgot to put the Minit Mystery label on it.

What if these reruns are not by choice, but by the syndicate trying to save some money – do they get reprint fees? Has someone done the math of how many repeats we’ve had?

Weren’t we subjected to a flashback/narration of Tracy’s before the storyline which just ended. No, I never wondered what Dick Tracy dreams about. He always had an active case load.

It looks like Tracy is having a nightmare being paired with that moron !!!

Fosdick will go to Frostdick when he gets frozen by the villain !!!

@ Mike and Shelley…your subject is not Steve Canyon. When Steve dreamt, Milton Caniff had a purpose for his character. What is the purpose for this other than an homage to Al Capp.

I don’t know who needs to put in their retirement papers, Mike or Tracy.

I remember when there was a story arc about a guy who was able to get inside people’s dreams, and turn them into nightmares.

He never learns does he?

In the barber shop I go to there is a poster and a saying about Fearless Fosdick, left over from the previous owner, the took down the “Shave and a Haircut 2 bits” sign as some guys said it was false advertising! The old owner was a great guy, but the woman who runs it now is great too!

Maybe Tracy should watch what he reads before dozing off… ;-D

Crimestoppers Textbook is incorrect. As most of us know, today is Mother’s Day. Tomorrow, May 15th, is Peace Officers Memorial Day.

I’m not sure I want to see Tracy shot full of holes, even if it is his dream.

Many have wondered why we are seeing another repeat. Maybe so they can launch the next major story arc after Memorial Day? This current one will take us to May 21. We could see another “Minit Mystery” rerun after that.

It seems in the past there has been a lengthy arc which would run through the entire summer, concluding sometime around Labor/Labour Day. Isn’t there supposed to be an upcoming story involving Annie?

I’m just guessing here.

We sink deeper into the morass watching a once great comic strip go all Titanic on us. Sad

Note to Tracy: when you’re anywhere near Fosdick wear a vest. Or maybe body armor.

I read once that Al Capp, when he asked Chester Gould for the ok to spoof “Dick Tracy”, offered Gould in return an ok to spoof “Lil Abner”. Gould gave the ok, but declined to spoof Lil Abner in that he didn’t think Dick Tracy was the kind of strip to spoof others in.

Looks like Gould’s successors are finally taking Capp up on it.

The two sharpest chins in the detection business meet face-to-face in Tracy’s Dreamscape! To be sure, another rerun (why?), but since I was always a big fan of Fearless Fosdick (especially before he was forced to give up his fedora in exchange for a bowler), I don’t mind it all that much.

But I do wonder what’s going on that mandated yet another rerun….
