It’s always interesting to me to see the very different opinions on Earl and Opal and the way they treat each other. I’ve come to the conclusion that at least the majority (if not all) of them are colored by each commenter’s own experiences.
Personally I find Opal a little too abrasive, she comes out with some pretty nasty barbs sometimes and it’s a pet peeve of mine when someone can really dish it out but god forbid you give ‘em a taste of their own medicine and in the past when Earl has said anything even remotely resembling something like what Opal said today it has led to him being banished to the couch or outside, knocked over in his recliner or even once smacked across the face with a book! And no I don’t agree with the comments that he should just take it because she happens to do the majority of the cooking and cleaning (earlier this week I provided a list of all the things we’ve seen Earl doing since some people have the mistaken belief he “does nothing”)
‘Old Fogey Chow’ might make a fortune. Cooking YouTuber Andrew Rea on his ‘Babish Culinary Universe’ channel has an episode where he made the ‘Bachelor Chow’ from ‘Futurama’.
You can get yourself something to eat, can’t you, Earl? (Specially without staining the furniture or leaving the stuff from the fridge and pantry on the counter.)
Earl needs to stock up on microwaveable meals and a microwave. There a lot of good ones out there and the variety is excellent. Unfortunately for me, I have to be careful of sodium, fat, and excess calories so I do most of the cooking from scratch. My wife occasionally fixes one of her Korean dishes and tries to cut down on the soy sauce and such. When we go out to eat, most of the time I will eat salmon, preferably grilled, otherwise it’s close my eyes and pretend it’s healthy.

I think I have decided that I prefer Earl to Opal. Opal’s mouth is too abusive for me. I’m surprised Earl has put up with her this long.

Earl shouldn’t gripe. He’ll get a hot, sit down dinner when Opal finishes fixing it for them.

Since we’re both retired (on a fixed income), we eat only canned dog and/or cat food. Neither of us likes it but it’s the law. [end sarcasm font]

She is still pi$$ed with him for mixing beebees into the baked beans last week. When she bent down to pick something up, she almost shot the cat.

Old Fogey Chow is anything you want it to be. Could be cold pizza. Could be a box of Oreos. Could be a big salad (but it probably isn’t).
