Silver Nitrate’s cellmate, The Jumbler, first appeared March 8, 2013 (https://www.gocomics.com/dicktracy/2013/03/08) and was arrested April 14 or that year, the story concluding two days later. Apparently, he’s still in jail.
I’ve never known restless legs syndrome (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Restless_legs_syndrome) to occur quite the way it’s depicted, but I think it works for a comics panel.
Taking one heck of a chance letting this Jumbler character get the top bunk. What if he tossed and turned? Oh well, that would be all she wrote folks. Now look out below.
Aha, Silver Nitrate was dreaming. Is a trend getting started here? First Tracy, now him. Wonder what the coffee is like in jail? Plenty of that beverage but no chicken n’ delites for nourishment.
Silver is still haunted by his childhood memories of his father dealing with an angry customer. For a moment, he thought he was a child again, with his sister nearby.
I wont comment on silver being on the bottom….I wont comment on silver being on the bottom….I wont comment on silver being on the bottom….I wont comment on silver being on the bottom….
DAGNABBIT!!! I just commented solver being on the bottom lol
I see from the Dick Tracy Fandom entry on the Jumbler that he was involved with collectible comic books, but not counterfeit items like the Nitrates and Art Dekko were both (separately) involved in. Googling “counterfeit comic books” didn’t provide much information, so I might be reaching in suggesting it.
I’m coming up to speed. This Silver Nitrate is some sort of criminal mastermind or arch fiend or villain with an addiction to photo developing chemicals and his sister , Sprocket , is his muscle . Have I got it right ?
THE JUMBLER?!?… he was probably the first bad guy from Mike that I extremely disliked and looking back on the story, I STILL don’t like it or him… now that I see THIS idiot inserted into what might have been an enjoyable Nitrate story has for ME, went down a few notches… the inclusion of this imbecile does nothing for the high hopes I had… and this happens on the day of my surgery in a few hours… will be leaving for the hospital in about an hour to have yet another piece of me taken away… so it’ll be my fourth toe I’ll be involuntarily giving up… dam-ned diabetes… seems I’m leaving bits of myself wherever I go… LOL… so I’ll be back out in a few short hours afterwards, rest up when I get back home and be back for tomorrow’s installment, but I won’t be looking forward to seeing useless excuse for a bad guy again… the Jumbler, my god.. of all the bad guys to have as a bunkie, it had to be HIM?!?…
We’ve had an intro with a brief backstory and a transition to current day. So far, so good. I’m learning some characters who exist in the Tracyverse and who have been introduced in the past decade. With a probable murder or manslaughter conviction to add to his con game and prior prison break, it’s not likely Silver’s sentence is up anytime soon. Looks like we have another probable prison break coming up.
I haven’t read up on the Jumbler yet. Is in for anything other than theft?
Not exactly the clearest writing. Silver Nitrate was seemingly narrating the tale of his deficient childhood in a coherent and straight-forward way to someone unknown to us. But now we find him awakening, startled by — good grief! —Jumbler’s Restless Leg Syndrome, BAM-BAMming against the wall of their shared prison cell. Dreams are rarely so linear as what we’d had up until today!
Now what? A jailbreak? Or parole? Or a switcheroo to some other potential villain (Sprocket?), and a frickin’ crime? Are we on a Magic Carpet Ride?
This looks like a short respite before we see who the next criminal(s) are who’ve taken too many bites from the bitter fruit of The Weed Of Crime…………….
