So …. Adam & “Susan” have been together for a while … & Lafayette knows they’ve been together, but apparently Lafayette a) has never met or seen “Susan” & b) Lafayette knows who “Susan” is. I guess. Also, My college writing professor would have rolled his eyes at Adam’s dialogue in panel 1 … “my brother, Lafayette” … & called it an exposition howler.
Will their part in this connect before they leave, or do they lack any real contribution to the story? Lafayette seems to have been merely a side stop and if these two really have nothing to do with the story either, this week has pretty much been a tromp into the deep weeds. There’s a lot of opportunity here, but I’m seeing signs of ending this portion of the story without anything really happening with it.
1-ADAM AUSTINPOWERS: Sunglasses – indoors? Oh. Is the gleam off my chrome dome too much? I’m sorry…
2- …Look – I was doing my thing where I look up the criminal history of the town we happen to be in and I found a story about a vile, heartless, soulless Tracyville woman who has never been caught and… SHE LOOKS JUST LIKE YOU!CHAINRING:Uh oh…
3- …You’re right! Say, you look tense, darling – let me give you a throat massage.
ADAM: You mean “neck”, silly. CHAINRING: Oh. Do I? ADAM: GURGLE!
Not only have these stories disintegrated into a riddle of the Sphinx, the characters are bland and don’t even have odd names. Where’s an Itchy? A Sleet, a Mrs. Volts, a Crewy Lou?. Creativity? Thy name is not Curtis.
“Susan” (as we know, actually Sprocket Nitrate) is (still) wary and on her guard. Despite the pleasant, “nice girl” façade, she remains a felon and fugitive at heart. How long can she keep up the masquerade? When will she, or Adam, let something slip that alerts Law Enforcement, or when will she be caught in incriminating circumstances (e.g., being caught in a raid at the call center)?
Life on the run is stressful, even if that is not immediately apparent….

Good morning™, everyone!
Sprocket/Susan dodged a bullet there. Luckily for her, she and Adam are headed back to the countryside in one more day.

Susan seems very gracious and charming. Adam was lucky to find her.

Good morning™, spooked undercover villains !
Miss “natural” is working hard to keep Adam unsuspecting. How will she weasel out of meeting “my brother the snitch” ?

How does “Susan” know Lafayette and is leery of meeting him? I do not remember a backstory!

So, Dick Tracy is turning into Rex Morgan. OK. Maybe someone will get murdered in Rex Morgan.

Hopefully everything will get tied together soon… This arc is taking WAY too long to develop… Too many sub-plots…

Computer trouble kept me away for a day and a half—-I’m trying to figure out how she keeps Adam from knowing she’s wearing a wig.
Chester Gould reformed The Mole, and remember Steve The Tramp—-one less eye and one less leg later,he finallylearned his lesson.
We tend to remember the Butcher Boys first when we think of Tracy villains, but even Gould gave a few of them a break.

From Susan’s reaction, does Lafayette know about the skeletons in her closet?
