The amazing sax solo is one thing, but Count Iggy is the cutest lil vampire this side of Transylvania. Transylvania Kentucky I mean. OK, it’s a University not an actual city, but close enough.
I’ve been trying to persuade Raven to pose in the front window later this month. He doesn’t seem to be going for it. But he’s got the perfect little pokey fangs!
I LOVE The Lost Boys!! It was scary and campy and all around excellent! And I played sax for several years so it holds a special place for me. Did you know, his name is Tim Capello (sp?) and he was a backup player for Tina Turner and Ringo Star and virtually unknown until that 30 second or so spot in that movie?
And as an additional spooky kick off to October … I am proud to say I remembered to turn the page on my BCN calendar. This month’s tarot is Death, represented by Tillie <3
We have our own little vampire. Bartholomew’s fangs often stick out and he loves biting cardboard and paper (so many of my sewing patterns have puncture marks). I have yet to notice ink disappearing…
You know, even though I’m from that era, I’ve never actually seen The Lost Boys. With the cast though, it’s probably because it felt like the Twilight of its day. I wasn’t big on movies starring the Coreys.
“The Lost Boys” is a great movie and Tim Capello’s performance of “I Still Believe” is a totally under-appreciated song. Listen to the whole thing on Spotify, you’ll love it!
Recently I learned that Alex Winter- possibly best known as Bill S. Preston, Esq. of the Bill & Ted movies- was also in The Lost Boys, as Marko. I’d watched both when I was younger but I never made the connection!
Happy Pucktober, everyone!!! Even though we’re in the war storyline in the dailies, Spooky Sundays (I’m definitely calling them that from now on, lol!!) are here!
If you want to see the scene this strip is referencing: It’s hard to share here, but if you search “Lost Boys I still believe scene” on YouTube, a 1 minute 50 second video of this scene comes up. (I shared it on the BCN Twitter and FB, too!) There is a lot of fire throughout the scene. I meant that to show in Pucky’s eyes in his little spicy stare, but I think I remember that scene a little too well lollll!! I’m realizing the fire may not be as memorable as the awesome sax solo!
Lost Boys is such a great movie, it’s so fun. Not for kids (well, not younger kids! Maybe pre-teens. Parents, use your best judgment!) but it’s a blast for grown ups.
It’s arguable, but many think that Coleman Hawkins’ solo on “Body and Soul” was the greatest ever. Others probably go for something by Charlie Parker or John Coltrane.
Ooooh, “I still believe” from the Lost Boys soundtrack. One of the very few covers that was (arguably… go ahead and argue. I’ll listen) better than the original.

Gonna watch smol Iggy, an adorable sight
Gonna watch him grab paper for a little vampire bite
He’s gonna cause a spooky fright, that’s right
Scarin’ all in the middle of a cold dark night
When he’s not lining up collections in the light of day
We know loose paper’s always gonna be there any way
Thinkin’ of it’s workin’ up his appetite
Looking forward to a little cat vampire bite
Foldin’ drained victims makes Lupin’s smile quite bright
As the thought of prankin’ Elvis is so exciting
Bat paper in flight
With Iggy’s vampire bite
Vam-mm-mm-pire delight

Meanwhile, Back on the Nile
Elvis-Anum: It’s the season for the papyrus harvest. I need some fresh writing material.
Thomios: And I’d like to a papyrus stew.
Ora Z: I’ve shredded a nice pile of old papyrus. We can make papyrus maché boats.
Puckmosis: Has anyone seen Iggy?
Ora Z: I think he went out fishing with Fresh and Salty.
Thomios: Perfect Perch with Papyrus stew. A lovely fall meal.
On the Water Cat’s Boat
Iggy: I’ve heard a legend about a mysterious count who would drain tuna packets of water.
Fresh: That hasn’t happened yet.
Iggy: Still, I wonder if such a thing is possible.
Salty: Well, for a long time some thought the Papyrus Cat was a legend, until we met Kat-Mandu and friends.
Iggy: Let’s find out.
At The Royal Kitchen
Thomios: I have all these papyrus packets that seem to have little holes in them.
Sue Chef: I wonder how that could have happened.
Iggy: I’ll never tell!

I was working in the news room one night
When my eyes beheld an eerie sight
For a monster from the control room began to rise
And suddenly to my surprise
He did the Monster Mash
(The Monster Mash)
It was a living room smash
(He did the Mash)
It caught on in a flash
(He did the Mash)
He did the Monster Mash
From my news desk in the news room east
To the master sound stage where the vampires feast
The ghouls all came from their humble abodes
To get a jolt from my electrodes
They did the Monster Mash
(The Monster Mash)
It was a living room smash
(They did the Mash)
It caught on in a flash
(They did the Mash)
They did the Monster Mash
The zombies kitties were having fun
The party had just begun
The guests included Wolf Man
Dracula and his son
The scene was rockin’, all were diggin’ the sounds
Elvis on chains, backed by his baying hounds
The coffee table bangers were about to arrive
With their vocal group, “The Crypt-Kittens Five”
They played the Monster Mash
(The Monster Mash)
It was a living room smash
(They played the Mash)
It caught on in a flash
(They played the Mash)
They played the Monster Mash
Out from closet, Lupin’s voice did ring
Seems he was troubled by just one thing
He opened the door and shook his fist
And said
“Whatever happened to the Transylvania twist?”
It’s now the Monster Mash
(The Monster Mash)
And it’s a living room smash
(It’s now the Mash)
It’s caught on in a flash
(It’s now the Mash)
It’s now the Monster Mash
Now everything’s cool, Elvis is a part of the band
And my Monster Mash is the hit of the land
For you, the living, this Mash was meant too
When you get to my door, tell them Iggy sent you
Then you can Monster Mash
(The Monster Mash)
And do my living room smas
