The conk on the head seems to be having a beneficial effect on monty exactly as most everyone here predicted. But will it last…..will wickets influence change him back…..or will monty tell the wicket to go back where he belongs in a nursing home for delusional old owls.

Yesterday, whomever predicted the conk on the head would reset him back to normal was totally on point! I think this war might just be over . . . but what of the loyalists sworn to Montague who are now encroaching on our Pucky Bear’s (and the rest of the clowder’s) peace?

Somehow I think, hope, that if/when Wicket shows up……. Montague tells him where to get off, so to speak. A rap on the head wont cure him of his evil ways I fear. But there might be something to keep him in-check.

    Seal: Kiss From a Rose

    Ba-ya-ya, ba-da, ba-da-da-da, ba-ya-ya

    Ba-ya-ya, ba-da, ba-da-da-da, ba-ya-ya

    Ba-ya-ya, ba-da, ba-da-da-da, ba-ya-ya

    Ba-ya-ya, ba-da, ba-da-da-da, ba-ya-ya

    …….

I used to be obsessed with power and abandoned my friends

But I came to my senses and left the dark side of me

Love remains, after flying high and landing on the ground!

    …….

And did you know it goes to show

    My friends were always there

And now I can just let them be!

    …….

Orb friends, I compare you to a breath of fresh air

Ooh, the more I think of how I was the stranger it feels

Now with a blast from the kids

Whatever I did makes no sense!

    …….

There’s so much to do yet, don’t know what to say!

You remain my friends who help me anyway

But I wonder how we’ll deal with the moles converging on the Big Pink House

And what about Lupin and the gum balls?

    …….

I don’t know now about that owl

    But something tells me

We’re gonna find out soon somehow!

    Meanwhile, Back on the Nile

Beatrixia: So Montague the Mole King had an impromptu flight.

Sophititi: I think this purple amethyst would be an appropriate gem to represent him.

Puckmosis: But I’m still concerned about my descendant. Will he be okay?

Bea: I’m sure owl will be well in the end.

Puckmosis: But there is still more to be played out. What does this white stone and these multicolored stones represent?

Soph: The white stone represents Lupin, and these multicolored stones I’ll explain shortly.

Bea: I just love a cliffhanger.

I just had a thought come to me about the attacking moles. I imagined a “Home Alone” style scenario, starring our own Iggy “the cute little wave” Pop. Imagine the little traps and snares just one, overly cute cat could unleash on some angry moles! Each time he taunts them with his cute little wave. Never mind what Ora Z could do to them. The adult cats might not even bother with them. The laundry chute comes to mind.

At first I thought the lone bird in panel 2 was Chitter or Chatter, but as someone pointed out, that’s a rather large outline for a bird, so I suspect Wicket is flying post haste to check on his fowl (!) plan. He’s in for a BIG surprise. Now as everyone has pointed out Saturday will be a humdinger of a cliff hanger! Getting ready for the Halloween denouement! Good times! What an excellent and exciting arc!

Bullies like Wicket exploit a fellow creature’s need to create a follower. They offer easy scapegoats to focus their anger and promise rewards. The bully encourages behaviors that, under ordinary circumstances, would repulse the follower, but the follower is too caught up in the moment to think clearly.

Montague was injured and upset, and Wicket directed those feelings against the raccoons and inhabitants of the field for his own ends. It’s not so much a blow to the head as much as the shock of being knocked flat by a fire extinguisher that has given Montague an opportunity for self-examination. Let’s hope that he uses it wisely.

Okay, that’s enough deep thought for a Friday morning. Is it Martini time in Australia or India? After all, I wouldn’t want Robin or Gent to drink alone.

There is a hint of a past relationship between Mona and Montague in the last two panels. I love how Mona so tenderly hands Montague his hat in the last panel. I think that there is a bit of a glimpse of Mona’s folded-up claw where she is touching Montague’s head in the last panel.

From Les Miz: Bring Him Home

After Puck Learns of Monty’s Plight

Cat on high, hear my prayer

Have mercy on one, who is injured out there

    He’s unwell, he’s afraid

    Let him rest, Heaven blessed!

Bring him home, bring him home, bring him home!

He’s suffering from an injury, and hasn’t been in his right mind!

But now he sees, where he went wrong

Now let us try, to move on

Let moles and cats, and raccoons

    Be friends as one!

    …….

Give us peace, Give us joy,

Let us join, all our prayers to employ

You can take, You can give

Now in peace, let each one of us live!

In the wild, those who roam

    In the house, not alone

    Bring us home!

    Bring us home!

    Bring us home!

While many have noticed the bird in flight in panel 2 (Wicket?), I would like to point out the fabulous moon in panel 2. The moon is depicted as a waxing crescent, which is exactly the phase of the moon right now. The details in these strips are so incredible. Next Saturday the moon is full. One can only hope that finds its way into the conclusion of this arc.

When I did computer support I always explained to people that rebooting a computer to fix a problem was like the cartoons where a character got hit on the head and acted weird then got cured by getting hit on the head again. The odd thing is, that it works with computers a lot because of, to avoid your eyes rolling back behind your eyelids stop now, memory management and faulty garbage collection.

Well, I have solved the mystery of where Wicket is. He just flew over my head, quite closely, as I got out of my car a few minutes ago. He then flew into the pine tree in my backyard and proceeded to hoot his head off at me. I, on the other hand, shook my fist at him and told him to leave the wildland creatures and the BPH alone! He just hooted at me.
