Is it an insult for Darryl to say ""For a woman o your age, you’re quite youthful looking"? Or does Wanda need the full-on denial of “You look like you’re 25, dear!”
I remember one night, I think I was 25. I’d gone out with a large group of acquaintances, maybe eight or ten of us. We were sitting at a long high top in a bar. The server started at one end of the table and worked her way around. Everyone ordered alcohol and she checked IDs for each member of the group. When she got to me I already had my license out, but she didn’t ask to see it. She did card everyone after me, though.
I knew full well that I looked older than 25—already had quite a bit of gray in fact—and I was at the point where I generally considered getting carded to be a nuisance. But I did think that, if she was going to card the rest of a large group, she really should have carded everyone

I got carded when I was 28 (10 years over the age limit) but a year later I bought my first business and my looks rapidly caught up with my age.

One store chain told their employees they have to check the I.D.s of those who look 35 years old or younger.
