(My nieces are Swifties.) Taylor Swift’s and Beyonce’s concerts plus Greta Gerwig and Margo Robbie’s Barbie movie were estimated in early Oct. to have added $5.6 billion to the US economy this summer. Forbes recently estimated that Taylor is now a billionaire herself.
Coach Bill Belichick remarked that Taylor is Travis Kelce’s biggest catch. His jersey sales increased by 400% after she attended his first game. Kansas’ coach, Andy Reid, noted that Kelce’s average yards almost double when Taylor attends their games.
Travis and his brother Jason have a podcast that includes a segment to answer questions about football. It’s great to see young women having fun and learning new things.
That said, Taylor and Travis seem to be nice people who are enjoying getting to know each other, even in the spotlight. I wish them well.
Anything Arlo says about an attractive, young woman will be used against him in wife court. Arlo has the right to remain silent and that is exactly what he must do!
I have a cousin who took her daughter to see Taylor Swift in Philadelphia. Spent $3,000 for two tickets. Said it was a life changing experience and worth every penny. I don’t get it.
Between her concert tour, and then her movie of the concert tour, and then the high-profile relationship with Travis, she’s what the experts would call “over-exposed”. Time for her to shy away from the spotlight for a while.
I mentioned to my SO that I had never heard a Taylor Swift song. SO reminded me that, at the wedding we recently attended, all they played was TS. I don’t remember a single song, much less one that I heard and said “that’s really nice”.
This past summer, Taylor Swift and YouTube provided great entertainment for old men like me. She’s a very pretty woman and to see her strutting her stuff on stage increased my blood pressure a couple of notches. Couldn’t care less about the football connection. That makes Arlo smarter than me….he knows when to shut up.
Not my stuff (I’m old), but I took the trouble to listen to her, and it’s better than a lot of other stuff I hear. And she does write her own songs. Not sure why some people hate her so much.
Mark Twain: " It is better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you are a fool than to open it and remove all doubt." I can’t believe I’m the first to suggest this as the source! Don’t you people read the classics??!
She has a great voice; she’s very pretty. I don’t buy her records andl ldo not care about her love life. However, those thinks have been popular with fans for actors, actresses, singers and entertainers since entertainment came into existence…..
She had a brief appearance in the “Hanna Montana” movie, but I couldn’t name any of her songs, or Hanna Montana’s songs for that matter, but I’m 71. I did like Miley’s dads performance of “Back To Tennessee”.
I actually pulled up some Taylor Swift songs off my Apple Music app to find out what all the fuss was about. I’m glad I did – but won’t do it again. I guess you have to be an 11 year old girl to appreciate her music.
“Shake It Off” is the only song of hers that I’d recognize (I kinda like it) but I know my ignorance of her body of work has nothing to do with any lack of merit. I’m told that she’s the real deal and I believe it.
When her concert movie comes to streaming, I’ll check it out.
I like the Mahomes and the Chiefs, but lately I’m hoping they lose. I’m sick of constantly seeing some vapid pop star when I’m trying to watch football. Most football fans are NOT 12 year old girls. Taylor swift is not any more special than the rest of the audience.
Swift is now a billionaire. She earned that money by 12 year old girls spending $1000 or more on one ticket to see her. If adults want to spend a thousand dollars to see a pop star, that is their business. But Swift is taking advantage of dumb little kids. It is shameful to take advantage of little kids.
“I’m sorry, I couldn’t hear what you were saying after I heard the words Taylor Swift. I was trying to remember: is he kin to Jonathan Swift or Tom Swift?”
I don’t get this Taylor Swift phenomenon. Winner of the participation award generation? She’s not that talented; it must reflect on the dearth of actual singers and bands. You can say Okay boomer, but you haven’t been there and this is what you settle for.
I’m no swifty, but she has done a few good songs. Some clever videos. You may have seen her in TV ads for various products and not known it was her. I give her a high score for intelligence and good business sense.

Now, I’ve already seen the 1985 film, The Slugger’s Wife; I don’t need to see it again. At least that had a Neil Simon screenplay.
