Leaf blowers?

Has anyone heard of the theory that resulted in a whole bunch of people saying that there is this theory whereby a butterfly on one side of the world can result in a storm on the other side of the world?

I thought that was called the butterfly effect.

Knowing Arlo’s luck with mechanical and electronic devices, it’s his doom that he is foretelling.

My neighbor has a quiet leaf blower. They do make them.

According to chaos theory, Arlo’s leaf blower might be the factor that PREVENTS the end of the world. That said, those horrid machines do inspire me to consider lobbing mortar shells into my neighbor’s yard.

For what it’s worth, the butterfly was in the Amazon, not in China.

I have one of those but I don’t need to use it because I also have two grandsons, ages six and four.

The original Butterfly Effect was a weakness of a climate model having too few data points. i.e. if I make a climate model and have only 100 places where I collect data, each of those 100 points has a huge effect on the model. Hence a butterfly flapping at a collection point makes the model go haywire and extreme, and predict a huge storm.

Since then, chaos theory does seem to show small changes in a system sometimes have huge real consequences. And the Butterfly Effect seems to be accepted by the public as real, and not as a flaw in climate modeling.

I love my blower more than my rake…..but still get more leaves after blowing or raking.

The size of the butterfly does not affect things.

DC outlawed gas fired leaf blowers! 2021. You can only use electric or battery powered ones now. If only they would do away with gas weed eaters and gas mowers, but that may be too hard on people with large lawns and lots of edging to do.

If the leaves don’t bother anyone, why not just leaf them? They enhance the soil and offer protection for insects.

I used to have a neighbor who ran a leaf blower for 10 hours a day, two days in a row, when he did his leaf clean-up : ( Meanwhile, I was able to rake our entire yard, put the leaves in the compost pile, and get the flower gardens ready for winter—- all in one peaceful afternoon. Mr. Noisy Neighbor didn’t save himself any time, he was just some middle aged man who wanted to play with an obnoxious toy.

I don’t know about you, but I don’t trust the look in his eyes!
