Elvis is the duly appointed Mayor of Scritch-Scratch Town! It sounds like a lovely place! Sadly, I’ve had to move, no, hide, the new toilet brush I bought. Left out, BOTH my girls take the express train to Scritch-Scratch Town! And that’s GROSS at a minimum.

Oh, I do hope Scritch-Scratch Town doesn’t intersect with Buttertown, otherwise the Woman and Elvis will need a thorough shampooing.

Several years ago, I bought a Vidal Sassoon natural bristle hairbrush, which unfortunately does not work with my baby-fine hair (a veritable static electricity generator). However, my cats now have the fanciest hairbrush in town. They have my old Denman brush for getting out the tiny mats that DSH cats get, and the Sassoon brush for the smooth and soothe.

He scored some hair necessities, the Woman’s “shared” accessories

Forget about his worries and his strife

I mean the hair necessities, that fit his natural tendencies

To bring his eccentricities to life

He’s an absconder, but not for a comb

He couldn’t be fonder of rubbin’ his dome

    The bristles carressin’ him gently

    To make him sigh contentedly

When you look at the way he took a chance

Then take a glance at his life enhanced, you’ll maybe try it, too

The hair necessities of life can come to you

    (Elvis, you look good, boo!)

    They’ll come to you

Good Morning, Everyone! My computer wasn’t feeling well for the past few weeks, turned out the modem had died of old age so I couldn’t make comments. I’m really sorry I couldn’t give the Great Arc all the likes it deserved! And one more thing. With very limited time, I found, even though I like a number of comics, it was only BCN that I had to go to.

Salt Water Cat: Yep, Iggy, make ready to set sail.

Iggy Shipwright: All ready. Setting sail.

    Sometime Later

Iggy: There’s a school of fish to starboard. Looks like it might be perch.

Salty: Thomios has quite a few great recipes for them.

Fresh: Careful. Looks like there’s a group of hippos going for a swim.

Iggy: Let’s hope they’re in a good mood.

Hippo: Peace and love, cats. What brings you to the water?

Fresh: We’re going out to do a bit of fishing. I’m Fresh Water Cat, and this is my Brother Salty and our friend Iggy.

Hippo: Hey, Cats. I can dig that. I’m Star Shine, friend of nature. Just remember, there is plenty of fish for all. Have a Blossom of Blessing.

Fresh: Thanks, Star Shine. It’s great to meet you. You’re a genuine Hippy Hippo.

I swear, (I really don’t, but I know all the words)…I swear that the spirit of Lupin resides inside of our cat, Holmes.

Holmes gets into everything around the house. If it’s high, he climbs it. If it’s on a table, he pushes it off. If it’s a window screen, he becomes Spider-Cat. You would think that a cat would have some inherited instinct to know if a perch is stable. Well, Holmes isn’t graced with any such aptitude. I watched that silly orange cat yesterday leap from the bookshelf to the mantle and misjudge it terribly. Needless to say, after the less-than-auspicious landing, he ran off, and I had to pick up the mess.

It’s not boring to be the human following behind a Holmes, I’ll give you that.

Rubbing against scratchy things seems to be a mammal thing. On my YouTube Short scrolls, I’ve seen farmers put large broom heads on a post for cattle and horses. They stand in line every morning for a head scratch. I’ve also seen a bristle thing you can stick to the wall so your cat has a self-grooming spot.

I really have to make you all laugh. I have two 13-year-old boy cats, a year old girl pup and a 3-year-old boy pup. Yesterday when she went outside, she dropped her FAVORITE ball – and promptly started to dig a hole. Well, about 10 minutes later – she comes hopping over to me with her new toy! She dug up a big fat mole! I persuaded her to let it go and come inside with her ball. About an hour later, the boy pup went outside – and lo and behold – found that same poor mole again. When I got it away from him, though, it hadn’t made it. Poor mole….

Somebody else may have already posted this. If so, I apologize for the repeat.

Georgia posted the “outtakes” from the Raccoon vs Mole Wars Saga on Instagram. The link is on the about page—see tabs at top of this page.

My favorite is the one of Sophie alerting her woman to the fact that Wicket was in trouble. Second favorite is Mama Vac protecting Pucky, Elvis and the kittens inside her closet. Third favorite is Burt with all the raccoon kits. I do hope when this is retold in book form it will be a “director’s cut” and that all those outtakes will be restored.

O.T. Just a reminder of how careful we need to be. A friend had an adored cat who became senile as he failed in old age. I just learned two weeks ago, she tripped over him, fell and broke her hip. She’s staying with her mother to recuperate now but the cat died. She feels not only the loss but that she wasn’t there for his passing (Yes, he was being cared for by her husband.) So anyway, watch your step, especially around elderly pets.

    Tweets from Dr. Scuttles

    Nov. 6

I’m receiving multiple messages and tags today. It would seem the news crew over at CN news have violated my privacy ONCE AGAIN. However, yes, I will confirm: That Man has permanently adopted Wicket, as he permanently adopted me when I was also no longer suited to outdoor living

That Man is a specially trained and licensed wildlife rehabilitation worker and vet tech, who works for Quinn Wildlife Rehabilitation Center. No one should attempt to house (or even approach…) a giant snapping turtle or a vicious owl. But he puts the “lit” in “unrehabilitable.”

He is a truly patient, kind man with a gentle touch and elbow length bite proof gloves. Though trust me, Wicket is testing how bite proof.

(We are lucky to have him. But more importantly, he is lucky to have us—)

In time, I hope Wicket will appreciate life with That Man. Lord knows he complained enough when QWRC was going to release him that he’d never be fed again if left to try and catch his own food at his age, with few resources and “aging feather tips” as he says.

He’s hit the jackpot, as far as I’m concerned. Just wait until he gets a taste for potato chips! [praying hands emoji]

It is certainly a fate better than Wicket deserves (I say that as a reluctant friend.) But sometimes the wretchedness of a lying conman is bulldozed by the grace and mercy of those surrounding them. What is deserved is tempered by kinder hands than fate would wrought alone…

Wicket will never be trusted again and has eyes fixed upon him. Rehabilitation is not possible. However, a life measured out in the consequences of his actions that includes a heating pad and potato chips?

Mercy; while not flashy nor romantic, it is true love in its rarest form

That said, if he gets out again I’m eating his wings.
