I see another big bout of “zzzzzzzzzzs” for the revenger. Tracy does his own bush beating while Lee is on her way to who knows where .. back to the station, to follow a lead, or to the deli for Sam’s lunch ? Looks like Tracy may get some cooperation.
I forgot that there was an extra hour to wait for the new comic updates when Australia east coast changed to daylight saving time and now another extra hour because of the USA going off daylight saving time.
Do publish some of the conversation between Tracy and the reference librarian. Lately, it seems like the action has taken place and readers are brought in after the fact.
I will be very surprised, and disappointed, if the auction house turns up anything of value for Tracy. I can imagine an OCD collector being willing to kill to ‘save’ a book from being treated poorly. But such a collector is not going to put the rescued book up for adoption to some jerk who may mistreat it.
I will be happy if Tracy’s call doesn’t produce results. A lot of potential leads detectives try don’t turn up anything. Part of the job is to keep trying different angles to a problem. Unfortunately, as the eponymous character, Tracy’s lead will probably pan out.
People being murdered, so their books can be stolen, restored and sold? Having trouble with that approach, and will be massively disappointed if that is what is happening. On a cost-benefit analysis the penalty for murder it doesn’t make good sense. And rare books and manuscripts are easily identifiable, it almost screams, “I’m an idiot, arrest me!” Stealing a rare book, to add it to your own library of rare books would be virtually undetectable.
“Fine department? Good. Now, listen here, This is the LAW talking! About that hefty FINE and those threatening notes! Come ON! It’s only been six months, and I’m only to chapter three of THE SIX BUNNIE WUNNIES CRACK THE FIENDISH DIAMOND SMUGGLING RING IN LOWER EAST PEORIA! I mean…some of these p1ctures are really hard to work though! I’ll need an extension!!”
1-DT: Do you have any openings for auctioneers? I can mumble really fast and end with SOLD TO AMERICAN!
2-RECEPTIONIST:* Is that you again, Tracy? Your prank was NEVER funny and we’re tired of it! DT: Hee hee!
3-MEANWHILE, LEE’S STILL THINKING:It sure gets dark early now that the time changed. I get to sleep an hour longer but I also have to work later. I think I’ll knock off now and if Tracy asks I’ll tell him I forgot to reset my clocks. He believes that every year. RAIN?!? DANG IT!
I just wonder what would considered what would be considered antique or collectible items in America in 1783? The original agreement of the Native Americans selling Manhattan Island to the colonialists?
Tracy tries to do it by phone from HQ and may succeed (judging from the response in panel 2). Meanwhile, Lee Ebony is out in the field, where the weather looks gloomy and maybe rainy, either about to confer with her new CI, “the little old pressman,” or already having got a lead from him and about to act on it….

Good morning™, all!
Well, at least Tracy is trying a third information source. Lee seems headed to a rendez-vous with the down-low guy outside the book binding shop.

Congratulations to my son for running and completing his 5th NYC marathon yesterday. His time was 4:18. Not too shabby!

Wait … why would you call an auction house to speak to a reference librarian? Personally, I’d call a library.

RECEPTIONIST: “Dick Tracy”? Is this another scam call from a fake policemen’s group?
(Seriously, she seems impressed.)

I assume that Mason and Woods wasn’t founded in 1783 in Tracy’s City, which had mostly indigenous people living in what we now call the Midwest.

Lee got her tip and now she’s trying to see if she’s being followed.
All these firms the MCU is checking is probably close to being the last of their kind——-dust coating every one of them.
