When one person can cause this many problems there need to be changes to the system.

Senator Tuberville ought to start a new political movement that reflects his sincere beliefs about the importance of the US military: Peckerwoods for Putin.

It would probably be very enlightening to know where his campaign donations and other funds come from.

Remember when the GOP made a fuss that JFK’s decisions might be influenced by his personal religious beliefs and impede government? Did that ever happen?

Like Turtle McConnell, how is it that ONE PERSON can totally stall government? No over-rides? No Check or Balance? Something’s wrong here.

How can he be “pro-life” when he’s clearly indifferent to the lives of our military personnel.

As his teachers used to write on his report card, “Gates are down, the lights are flashing, but Tommy’s train isn’t coming.”

Take him on maneuvers with the Army Rangers for a week, out on a carrier for a month, embedded with the Navy Seals for a week, with the Air Force (Alaska in January), the Coast Guard, and the Space Force?

If he’s not the floor he can’t object, and if he makes it back alive he might have a better understandind of serving in the military and why he shouldn’t use his position to make the lives of THOUSANDS worse.

Now that Santos is gone.. maybe time to kick another idiot out.

Maybe he wants appointees that are more concerned with military readiness than woke culture. Anyone else notice that with the recruiting shortfall, the ads are now fit young men in uniform instead of LGBTQ people commenting on inclusion?

We all know everything the repunklicans say is a lie, like the fascist “Moms for Liberty.”

“Pro-life” means attack women and doctors and bomb and burn clinics.

I automatically assume they mean the opposite of what they are saying.

The bible and the church say life begins at birth. Dim wit controlling republican fascists claim it begins at conception. In Israel they have free abortion, Women are not questioned about their decisions. Will evil controlling republicans build concentration camps to hold pregnant women until they come to term?

Much of the ‘system’ is built on the premise that nobody would do something that stupid, and if they did, the overwhelming majority would correct the situation.

Republicans no longer believe in that premise or others the country was founded upon.

One example: They obstructed Obama from appointing a Supreme Court Justice, but jammed through and appointment for Trump AFTER he lost reelection.

He’s a clown. A blowhard. But really, how much negative effects does it have on military day-to-day ops? Minuscule beyond the personal effects on the generals & admirals whose promotions are delayed. Any temporary leadership “gaps” are immediately filled by the next senior officer present . . . & they are competent. But if even perceptions matter, then the military could send the general/admiral selectees on temporary duty to their intended next assignments & make them acting.

So much for separation of church and state.

It’s reasonable to ask, what has this person ever contributed to the welfare of his constituents, or the country. Isn’t a senator supposed to do something to contribute the the general welfare of the country? Or are they elected only to act on their own narrow concerns, regardless of the larger needs of the country? What did this guy promise when he was campaigning for election? Or did he only campaign to be a person to deflect the needs of his state and its constituents? I saw a report that said he didn’t even live in Alabama!

Hopefully, everyone in the military is waking up to the fact that Repubs have never cared for the military, except for the money they can get out of it. Repubs see the military as props, tools, and expendable depending on their whim of the moment.

There’s something especially perverse about asking the military to adopt what they call a pro-life stance, given that one of the fundamental jobs of a military is to kill, potentially on a massive scale. I mean, Tuberville is quibbling over allowing PTO and travel reimbursement for abortion, but he’s apparently absolutely fine with everything else the military does, up to and including the nuclear weapons program. I’m pro-military myself, but it’s always baffled me that someone could call themselves both pro-life and pro-military. If you’re willing to deny a woman the right to end her pregnancy because she’s got diabetes or she’s in abusive relationship or she’s not comfortable with the inherent risks of pregnancy or she just doesn’t want to be a mom right now BUT you are fine with the continued production of DPICM munitions or with the Trident D5 Life Extension program or things like that, then, well, I don’t think you’ve thought your position through all that well.

He needs what Santos, or whatever his name is got.

They could at any point not kill children. That seems so simple.

Start closing bases and government facilities in his state.
