I have a fuzzy memory of a movie scene showing Santa in various homes, warily eyeballing the cookie offerings. There were store-bought medleys, and some ghastly vegan gluten-free lumps with glasses of oat milk, some of which he dared to sample. The best cookies were homemade, which impressed the old Nick enough to take with a hefty dose of primo single malt scotch. (It was an action Santa film, of course.)
OZ has graduated from footed jammies to a frilly nightgown. And I don’t remember ever seeing her so contrite. BUT we haven’t seen everything yet. Lupin didn’t sleep through all that.
The contrast between OZ’s jubilant expression in panel 3 as she recounts her action, versus crestfallen in panel 4 as she surveys the outcome… I think Ora Zella shrank 3 sizes right there.

Sad Ora Zella. Tugs at the heart strings.

Awwww! Sad li’l Ora Zella. Iggy worked so hard lining up those cookies too! Good thing he’s snuggled in with Puck, and hopefully asleep.

Ora Zella needs to implement the 5-second-rule and re-plate those cookies stat!
Le'letha Premium Member 11 months ago
…oh, everyone who used “platter” in yesterday’s comments is about to be so smug. Go ahead. Let it out.

Poor, Sweet Ora Zella. Don’t cry over spilled milk and tumbled cookies! Santa will understand. Now turn that frown upside-down demon child!

Now you need to eat all the evidence, O.Z!

I was right!!! (very rare) It was a cookie & milk splatter! :D

Don’t worry too much about the cookies. OZ. They’re just broken, and broken cookies have no calories.

I’m surprised that Lupin hadn’t destroyed those yet!
Also, that bug-sized Santa must have some impressive pipes for his size.
Susanna Premium Member 11 months ago
So where is Lupin? He didn’t have anything to do with the booming ho, ho, ho did he?

Those ruffle bottom nightgowns are too cute.
Poor OZ. I’m not sure if she is more concerned about making the naughty list or losing the bait.

OZ is so cute, but I was hoping that Elvis would spring to his feet to see what was the matter

On a related note, Over the Hedge has a cute strip today about how Santa gets into homes without chimneys. >

Iggy and Ora Zella’s nightwear material match each other! As do the adult cats’ even though different from the kits. (Ahem, very small cats.)

Meanwhile, Back on the Nile
Ta-Natash: I’m back! I have plenty of gem dust, courtesy of Fe-Anaro and family, and plenty of, uh, stuff from Aman-Merchant and Azibo.
Thomios: Great! I was just about to make spiced applesauce. I need plenty of cinnamon and allspice.
Tash: I have some for Floofnet as well.
Thomios: He’ll be here to help with the Yuletide Banquet on Monday. This will make a great present for him.
Enter Iggy Shipwright
Iggy: I think I’m getting the hang of this banjo. I’m hoping to do a guitar and banjo duet with Ziggy when his ship comes into port.
Puckmosis: I’ve heard you practice. I think you’re doing just fine.
Iggy: If I get good enough, I may be able to play at a wedding next June.
Puck: Oh? Who’s getting married?
Iggy: Ali-Bama, who used to own this guitar. He went to Lu-Siana, and his girl Su-Siana said Yes!
Puck: I know Su-Siana! Is her sister Polly Wolly Doodle going to be her maid of honor?
Iggy: Yes. And Polly’s boyfriend Sal will be Best Man!

I love OZ’s little nightgown. So festive and retro-looking, and the colors suit her! Dare I say she seems to have a little remorse in panel 4?
rs0204 Premium Member 11 months ago
Poor little Ora. She looks so sad in the last panel. I want to scope her up and say it will be alright.

Where did the “Ho Ho Ho” come from? Perhaps Sir Fig was playing Santa. Seems like something he might do.

Poor Ora Zella looks so sad. No child should look that way at Christmas!
Daltongang Premium Member 11 months ago
It’s the day before Christmas
And all through the house
The kittens are chasing
An old fuzzy toy mouse.
The wreath which had merrily
Hung on the door
Is scattered in pieces
All over the floor.
The stockings that hungIn a neat little row
Now boast a hole in
Each one of the toes.
The tree was subjected
To bright-eyed whims,
And now, although splendid,
It’s missing some limbs.
I catch them and hold them.
“Be good”, I insist.
They lick me, then run off
To see what they’ve missed.
And now as I watch them
The thought comes to me,
That theirs is the spirit
That Christmas should be.
Should children and kittens
Yet show us the way,
And teach us the joy
That should come with this day?
Could they bring the message
That’s written above,
And tell us that, most of all
Christmas is love.

No worries, Ora. The gingerbread cookie doesn’t seem too bothered anyway.

Maybe, Ora Zella, you should put the cookies in the jar. That seems a time-tested method.
And set it out in the chimney as bait, if you must insist.
