I used to have a pony tail. But it gradually grew farther and farther down the back of my head until it was growing from the base of my skull. That was when I thought, “This is really pathetic.” Shaved my head and never looked back.
I actually wore a ponytail in my young adult years. Liked it: Sensual, I though it looked okay even if maybe not handsome… but eventually the real world in the form of “working on my own transmission, under the pickup in the driveway” made me decide to cut it off… along with the big wad of grease. Then during Covid, I thought I’d go ahead and regrow it. Nothin’ doing. Old follicles apparently just don’t have the get up and grow that the young ones had.
A few years back I decided to follow through on a desire to be the older balding guy with a pony tail. KInda regret it now and got it cut on Christmas.
When ever I see a band playing on t.v., those men who have long hair and ‘head banging’ with it, I always say it must be a requisite to be in said band!
I used to grow my hair longer than I wanted, which was already quite long, so I could donate my hair to be made into wigs for children who have undergone chemo. Some men who wear silly looking ponytails do that, too. I probably provided enough hair for a dozen kids over the years. Natural red hair – if they were redheads, they were probably happy to get it. I used to generally donate a foot, but six inches is enough for the boys or a short girl’s hair. Not all people with long hair are making a fashion statement.
During the crazy years of the fauci-flu, when it was forbidden to get haircuts, my friend’s husband, a Col, USAF Ret, grew his hair long enough to donate to “Locks of Love”. It was very strange to see him with a ponytail.

Earl please don’t.

I doubt that Opal would tolerate that. She’d be walking around the house with scissors in her hand.

How about a Mohawk, Earl?
syzygy47 12 months ago
Earl could sport a man bun. Start with a dinner roll.
stairsteppublishing 12 months ago
He’s too bald for a Mohawk, man bun or pony tail.

Better than a man bun. Anything is better than a man bun. Just creeps me out.

True Earl. I see a lot of old guys wearing ponytails even they have no hair up top.

He could always get one of those ball caps with a fake ponytail sticking out the back. Just don’t wear it backwards like so many guys do.

A ponytail? … Neigh!

Earl would have better luck styling his moustache. Let it grow a few more weeks, add some product, and curl the ends into a handlebar.

Pfffft! With your mustache, Earl!

I bet you could, Earl; however, Opal would probably object.

My 59 year old mostly bald son wears his like that…no hair on top, but teensy ponytail in the back.
Daltongang Premium Member 12 months ago
Earl, at your age that wouldn’t be a pony tail, that would be a Jack@$$’s tail.
bartimus fartimus 12 months ago
I once worked with a guy who had exactly that hair “style” — bald on top, ponytail down to the middle of his back.
karmakat01 12 months ago
from ponytail to cover up the top if it’s cold, huh?

There is definitely some truth there. I get fairly bushy in back. The top? Not so much.
