It was perfect. All the pieces were in place. My masterpiece was ready to be created. I had procured my supplies, glues, glitters, paints, ribbons and such. And I had completed my mandatory quota of “Hand-Crafted Christmas Cheer” for the Gift Shop. I had plenty of time and nothing could stop me now. As I look back on it, I realize that the fact that everything was so perfect was probably an omen of certain doom. Any arc of perfection must result in a downward arc on its backside, when it lands. And I can say, with certainty, that I did land on my backside on that arc. I forged ahead, filled with hope and ambition, confident that nothing could stop me from producing the most memorable Santa’s Sleigh ornament ever produced. As I completed it and stepped back to survey my masterpiece, the horror of what I had actually done struck me. The Snowman Santa was leaning. His hat was crooked. The bag of toys was not centered, and you could only see “OYS” above the side of the sleigh. The rails were uneven. The runners were not positioned fore and aft to the same position, and were not parallel, either. There was no time left for repairs or to redo it. I wanted to run away and hide. I’ve never been good with glue, and this was my grand symphony of errors.
Sadly, the Paderewski of Pullets was misunderstood and underappreciated by her fowl weather friends. Those poultry poltroons, the cockerel critics, said her performance was way down in the pecking order and not up to scratch.
Henrietta was clucking fed up with all the nasty wasty comments made every time she played! Maybe because it was the only song she knew, was Old McDonald had a farm. She changed up the lyrics…instead of a"cluck cluck here" and a “cluck cluck there” Henrietta sang “Chicken scratch here and chicken scratch there” ! People just don’t like change!
I’m telling you, we never should’ve let her play on that toy. It’s got such a plinky-plonk tone, we couldn’t help laughing. Why we ever let Dr. Who transport us here, I’ll never know.
It also reminds me of a story I heard recently. Experts wanted to have a psychologist play checkers with a chicken so they could disprove her declaration that a death row inmate was mentally sound bc he beat her at checkers.
Very interesting 6.2 at the point where the African Plate and the Antarctic plate meet. Something to watch. Normally, action is west of there, near the Sandwich Islands, along a different plate boundary, feeding tension differentials into the Pacific.

Please come back. I’m not like everyone else. They’ll pretend to listen and enjoy your playing. But not me.
I WILL laugh and giggle the whole time.

My advice to the chicken: Challenge them to play tic-tac-toe, as long as you get to go first.

I feel that the chicken might have had more patience with them, had they not named her “Nugget”.
