Well, who put the flying plate up on the counter? The Woman? Ha! Surely she knows better than that! Someone must have swapped out Elvis’ plate with one of those flying ones! Launch the investigation at once!
Tortimer in a top hat! So Elvis was in the duel pursuit of not letting anything go to waste while proving gravity still exists! A totally understandable situation! And Absolutely not Tortimer’s fault! Plates “take flight” all the time!
I’ve been keeping a couple of Foxy’s dishes up on her bookcase so the teeny tiny ants we have around here won’t get into her crunchies, and I always worry she might do this. She’s pretty careful, though.
Meanwhile, Dr. Scuttles is adding yet another verified report of a “flying saucer” sighting to his files of noteworthy occurrences at the Big Pink House. Gravitational force field anomalies (e.g., “the ceiling is the floor”) appear to be occurring with alarmingly increased frequency, with more significant effects on lighter-weight felines. Plates levitate, attempting to achieve orbital status as flying saucers, but failing to attain escape velocity, crash to the ground. Humans appear to be competing with increasingly-sophisticated robotic artificial intelligence systems to retrieve, suppress and study the evidence. Are these phenomena related to a shift in the earth’s magnetic poles? And how will this shift affect the migratory patterns of various cryptid species? Perhaps Dr. Scuttles’ avian colleague can use his extensive flight-related experience to help interpret these new data.
For those of you who feed your kitties on high, if you get a roll of the waffle weave shelf liner that is sponge like and cut to fit, then put the dishes on top of it, when they’re trying to clean their plates, said plates will stay where they are and won’t be cat-apulted off into the netherlands only to break when they hit the floor. It’s cheap stuff and you can use it for all sorts of things. I use it under my big cutting board too and change it out when it gets old. Keeps things from moving around that way :)
Ghosts. There, I said it. Non-corporeal free-floating fantasm that causes mischief, otherwise known as a poltergeist. It has to be. No Siamese that wears braces and a tie would ever be so crass as to shove their plate onto the floor.
Queen Catshepsut the Golden: So you would like to go to Afar to get information on games for the Happy Healthy Hospital Pyramid fundraiser. I heartily approve.
Ishaq, the Cat in the Unusual Headgear: You are most gracious, Your Majesty. I would like to include Puckmosis and Beatrixia as well.
Queen Cat: I would suggest you take along Violet-Ifa and Tash as well. You never when you will need their skill set. You may want to make arrangements with Thomios for food.
At the Royal Kitchen
Thomios: I’ll have a traveling packet ready for you. It’ll tide you over until you get to the Midnight Oasis, and from there to Uncle Floof’s culinary school.
Ishaq: Thank you, Thomios. I would also like to purchase a family size bucket of oats for Avenger and his family.
Thomios: I don’t think you’ll need to buy them. I just heard giggling in the background. And I think they just came from the Cosmo Nursery for lawn potatoes.
Ishaq: Alrighty. We’ll be ready to travel first thing in the morning.
Thomios: And if you see Amon-Merchant and Azibo, here’s a list of spi…, uh condiments I need.
That tiny tortie kiss! Best thing ever – my happy mood is set for the rest of the day; no matter what happens, I’ll have a serene half-smile on my face, and people will wonder what I’m up to!
Hopefully all the glass has been clean up now, because they are in the kitchen now. This explains why Tortimer was out. I kicked one of my cat’s plates across the floor on accident. It was a pretty hard kick because when it slammed into the corner of the refrigerator it chipped the plate.
OT: Mac and PC went to the vet yesterday, they are pretty funny when they go to the vet because they try to hide. Last night it was the sink that they tried to hid in. First PC was in it and Mac was on top and accidently turned the water on, which I was able to turn off fairly quickly, but even water pouring down on her wasn’t enough to get PC out of the sink. Mac has issues with his teeth and is going to have to go back in two weeks after he takes pills for the infection for two weeks. So far I am 50% on getting him to eat the pills. I am pretty sure he ate the one last night unless he used slight of paw to get rid of it. This morning no luck. I put it in his food which he normally gobbles down, but I apparently was stealth enough and he won’t eat it. I keep trying but at this point it might be hopeless with that one. If he was the only cat I would just leave it out and hope that he would eat it eventually, but with two other cats I can’t be sure one of them might not eat it, though George probably won’t because most of the time he ignores wet food. I am going to look for pill pockets or soft treats tonight and try that, but if anyone has any suggestions I would be thankful for that.
Well there’s the problem, the woman and the now gone man never trained the cats to stay off of the counter. Yes cats can be trained, it takes a little time, patience and consistency, but they can be trained. They just don’t do it with that happy, albeit goofy Okey-dokey look that a dog will give you.
The older I get, the more I realize that Monty Python IS completely correct about life… In “The Meaning of Life” they point out that the 2nd most important problem with people and society is that “People (and quasi sentient vacuums are implied here) are not wearing enough hats.” Ora Zella is like a caring stick of dynamite.

If cat plates are left on the counter, they are automatically doomed. Elvis is innocent.

My Siamese does this EVERY SINGLE DAY. That’s why his plate goes on the table over a rug. Don’t ask about the rug, it has seen better days.

From Mary Poppins: Let’s Go Fly a Kite
When it’s time to vacuum the floor
Sometimes you need to do something more
There dishes you’ve seen that just have to be cleaned
Sometimes they do make a sound
As they crash to the ground!
…….
Oh, oh, oh
Let’s all clean a plate
And send them to their fate
Let’s all clean a plate and send it crashing!
From counter or a shelf
Plates don’t fall by themselves
Oh, let’s go clean a plate!
…….
When you send a plate crashing down!
It makes a lovely, loud sound!
It may feel like a dream
As your Woman does scream
As each plate that’s around
Crashes down to the ground!
…….
Oh, oh, oh
Let’s all clean a plate
And send them to their fate
Let’s all clean a plate and send it crashing!
From counter or a shelf
Plates don’t fall by themselves
Oh, let’s go clean a plate!

Elvis broke it apart
It’s not as if he tried
Ora wasn’t that reckless
Nor was Lupin this time
Pucky, please make a chart
To take the blame off Tortie
Tortie, when you’re cleanin’ the floors
Ooh, your hat is lovely
Woo hoo
Nobody threw it
It was knocked down
Being tongue-pwned
Woo hoo
Nobody threw it
(Burt already knew it)
So Elvis broke it apart
His blep is takin’ my…
A blep is takin’ my heart
