    Good morning™, everybody!

Yup, it does look like the 5th Avenue New York City library, except that the one in NYC has park behind it, rather than across the street.

    Good morning™, Treasure Hunters !

Magnificent view in P.1 & P.3. Wouldn’t it be something if they were followed and usurped of their long sought after prize ?  LOL !

Is this going to be like the story where Breathless Mahoney found Shaky’s loot?

Looks like she found a smart henchman. We’ll see if he’s smart enough not to double-cross Croptop.

Let’s assume that Scardol really had such a bad memory he had to write down where he buried his treasure for fear he’d forget.

Why write it down in a children’s book? Wouldn’t be be afraid he’d forget what book it was, if his memory was that bad? Wouldn’t it be easier to write the directions out on a piece of paper and keep it in your wallet?

And why did he tell anyone else the directions to the treasure were in the book? Wouldn’t he be worried someone who take the book and dig up the loot? And he must have told a fair number of people for the word to get to Croppie. Perhaps his memory was so bad he printed up a couple thousand copies of, “Hey, directions for my (Scardol) buried treasure were written in my copy of Galen the Good. Oh, and the treasure is from robbing banks.” to spread around?

Are those clues or directions? ‘Stand between the lions and look at the park across the street’ is not terribly cryptic… Unless you don’t know the city where he lived. Or your memory is really, really, really bad.

The cast for today’s “Dick Tracy” comic was unable to attend. The characters will be portrayed by the assistant director and the boom operator.

Bryant Park is behind the library, not across the street. The lending library is across the street from the main branch, which is reference only. (By the way, the names of the lions are Patience and Fortitude.)

Ahh, the double-edged sword of the treasure hunt…. The mystery, the intrigue…. the ENDLESS WAITING…. If there are more than 3 clues, this little adventure can stretch out over several days… or weeks… UGH

Lots of exposition and another shout out to an extremely obscure comic, but little plot movement or action.

1-CLEANCUT: Are you sure we shouldn’t be at the lion cage at the zoo? CROPPIE: Well…

2-…The next clue IS about squirrels… CLEANCUT: I don’t think zoos keep squirrels BUT does the Tracyville Facility For The Sanity Challenged have lions out front? Maybe that’s…

3-CROPPIE: WE’LL wind up there if we keep second guessing. Let’s stick to our guns here. BOWLING LEAGUE: I didn’t bring mine. CROPPIE: And I ask myself again – WHY DID I BRING THESE TWO??? OH! IN CASE WE HAVE TO DIG IT UP! Did you put the shovels in the trunk? CLEANCUT: Huh? BOWLING: What for?

    CROPPIE: AGAIN I ASK MYSELF…

That’s he good thing bout writing. You can spend an hour doing research on locations or other details. In one of he early Red Ace neo-pulps, I discovered there was a Chinese drug lord nicknamed ‘Big Ears’ in he post WWI period, so how could I resist writing him into the series as a recurring character?

Hopefully, Croptop changed clothes to dress up like a lady. At least she would not be recognized right away.

Something just occurred to me concerning Blowtop….how does he earn his keep? It’s not like wanton criminals and bank robbers pay into Social Security or have a pension program. Might be interesting to investigate where he gets his money.

Well, I don’t know where this takes place, but those 2 lions look like Patience and Fortitude from New York City. Kudos to Mr. Ettinger
