That window is as inspiring as it is beautiful and artistic. May you have many more unforgettable years of sunshine, snowstorms, century-old paint and evening breezes, Sophie as you find much scope for your imagination peering through that beautiful arch window.

I have a small mirror shaped like Sophie’s window. It’s framed in green stained-glass, and the top part is a large water lily. The petals are in delicate shades of white and pink.

This one made me think of “The Waltons” episode where a building special to Grandpa and Grandma was being torn down, Grandma was upset. Grandpa secretly bought a stained glass window that was part of that building and put it in their room. Grandma was happy again. (^.^)

Albert’s Man’s grandparents had a Victorian house that he loved. When it was demolished, he saved a pair of stained glass windows. He kept them safe for years and years waiting for the right house.

Recently technology caught up with his vision and the windows are now mounted in our stairway with flat-panel LED lights behind them. It makes me so happy to see their beautiful colors glowing.

I’m glad Sophie will have the same joy.

Is today’s strip an old one? If not, something doesn’t add up. I thought the various people who live with the cats now own the house.

If your screen got a little blurry today and then recovered, it’s going to get blurry again if you read the Jan. 12, 2023 strip.

“Renovate” comes from the root terms re, meaning “to repeat”, and nova, a type of explosion, such as “supernova”.

I am restoreing a victorian home built in 1893. I have saved all the original doors even the 2 sets of pocket doors but stripping the paint and restoreing the natural wood work is a chor. I have the colors and even carpet done as it should be. so I know how the woman feels

Pardon me, dear commentors, but i am a new reader of BCN and wish to learn more about the countless characters. The one in question is the one riding on Lupin’s back in the strip posted on 21st May 2021. Seems like an adventurous old fellow. Please tell me more about this cat. Hope to receive responses. Signed, Sir Alfred the Second.

Huzzah!!! They’ve saved Sophie’s window! I’m so glad; she felt so bereft when they moved away, and wondered if anyone would ever love that window again. ♥

    Meanwhile, Back on the Nile

Beatrixia: I found a scroll you might be interested in, Soph.

Sophititi: Is it about sculpture? Or Mosaics?

Bea: Somewhat. But it also has decorating windows.

Soph: That would be great. I have a window I’d love to decorate. But I haven’t found exactly how I want to proceed.

Bea: I could give you a few suggestions, if you’d like.

    Soph: Always like new ideas.

    Sometime Later

Soph: Just the thing. It needed the point of view of a kitten to get it just right.

Bea: I think the input from Iggy and Ora Z helped, too.

Soph: Just like it said in the scroll.

The Moody Blues: The Eyes of a Child

Listen, hear the sound of kittens at play

Wonder to be found, kittens at play

Throughout your life this joy must not be lost

We’re all kittens at heart, whatever the cost

With the eyes of a child we must know how to see

There is wonder everywhere, and through life you will be

A small part of the whole, but most important

With the eyes of a child we will see

The window shows the way, the joy awaits

Night, or light of day, the joy awaits

Now you can see wherever you want to go

No need to be afraid of what the windows show

With the eyes of a child we must know how to see

There is wonder everywhere, and through life you will be

A small part of the whole, but most important

With the eyes of a child we will see

I have never had the chance to make stained glass windows but I have used stained glass to make mosaics. My second favorites are the ones on each side of my driveway with my house number. I used one pane of black glass for the background and one small mirror for the actual numbers. Yes, I risked 7 years of bad luck for numbers that would never have to be repainted. Stained glass does not fade and the silver on the back of the mirror is protected by glass and waterproof grout.
