I guess this is Eric’s generic police officer of some kind, but I wish they would have given us a name. So, what we’ve learned today is that there is something suspicious about the suicide. It’s going to take a while to find out what’s going on.
As long as Dickerson knows her PLACE when in the presence of a Great Dick. Nicely done panels with colors that are not overstated but more ‘natural like’.
I’m sure the strips are written weeks if not several months in advance, but this new storyline is tragically timely, I read in a paper last week several young (in their 30s) high-level executives of a major national bank committed suicide, evidently overwhelmed by extremely long, stressful work hours they were required to put in, working conditions the banking/financial industry is known for. It’ll be interesting to see where this storyline goes. 2 1/2 stars for today.
The makings of a real mystery. Is Tracy and MCU going to have the honor of investigating it? Of course they will. Been waiting for months for a case they can sink their teeth into.
Suicides, being considered unnatural deaths, are investigated by the police (although not MCUs) ’cause a lot of murderers hope to get lucky and have the death considered a suicide. Entirely reasonable for an officer to be looking at the case.
And should something smell it may indicate something is rotten in Denmark… Or possibly even closer to home. In that case, who ya gonna call? Dick Tracy!
1-DT: That necklace does nothing for your drab outfit. I can’t say much for your hairstyle either. NEXT!
2-BRENDA STIRR: I’m not here about your open detective position. I’m a podcaster looking into the suspicious Pierce murder. DT: Ouch! Take it easy on the skin shovel there, Butch!
3-BRENDA STIRR: You ruled it a suicide but… DT: Yep. Case closed! Really helped our Clearance Rate. * BRENDA:* Please explain how he got TWO bullets in the head then. DT: A post mortem twitch, b*tch! NEXT!
SAM from next room I didn’t know we were adding to staff. DT: We’re not – we’re replacing the dead weight around here. SAM: Poor Lee. DT: Keep telling yourself that, barbell, ballast, lead head, dumbbell
SAM: HEY LEE! YOU’RE GETTING REPLACED! DT: Ai yi yi…can you start immediately?
I’m not sure if it’s been answered, but What are Eric Costello’s credentals as a writer and why Mike may have chose him to appearently now be his regular fill in guest writer and not writing as his ghost writer, like Roy Thomas writing the Spider-Man strip for Stan Lee (and only got $300 a month!)

So the drawn out info stretch begins. Why wasn’t a crime scene setting with Tracy and crew there today and tomorrow?
Unfortunately I’m getting Deja Vu with Eric’s storyline.

’Gun, bullets, suicide note. I suspect foul play!"
That’s actually fowl play. A certain chicken is the killer and will surely be grilled for it!
I mean, it’s natural progression: Play a toy piano by pecking the keys. Shooting a gun.

This may go into the “Why?” of a suicide.
And if it’s a bank official, an investigation of the books is routinely called for.
