Oh dear! I don’t think Sophie is what one would call “an outdoor girl!” I think she may need some help (much like an ever-dignified reporter we all know needed help a few years ago). If Tommy is not available, I wonder if anyone else might be able to help. Maybe someone who appreciates her artwork more than anyone else we know?
That’s what I hated the most about the replacement windows I had installed. The screens do not lock into place. You can easily pop them out. They don’t lock into place the way the old ones did. I didn’t realize that until it was too late. I worried that Jasper would manage to pop them out and escape, so I kept close watch whenever the windows were open. Whenever I read about a child falling out an open window, I think they probably have the same kind as I do.
Recovering from her broken heart, poor Sophie suddenly find she has become a “fallen woman!”
Falling from a windowsill might cause physical harm to an unprepared cat, but it’s even more likely to cause. “A.F.E.S.” — Acute Feline Embarrassment Syndrome. This is especially true if the event is witnessed and — OH HORRORS ! If the cat is laughed at by an unsympathetic Philistine audience. This has happened to a couple of my furry pals, who responded with glares of incendiary (but “dignified”) hatred. Has anyone else had similar experiences ? Let’s hope this particular event went unnoticed, especially by a certain young raccoon…Unless he’s adept at first aid,
:O!!! THIS is WHY I don’t like David to leave the third floor bedroom window wide opened where Trubby likes to perch at night!! I swear he could fall out if he tries to move about or bat at something! :( I sure hope she’s OK! I mean, it’s like on the first floor, right? So she should be fine. Probably a certain brave racoon will come to her rescue! ❤
OMC Sophie! I didn’t gasp aloud (hubby is sleeping next to me…) but I inhaled a breath and held it for a bit while my hand covered my mouth in surprise. Looking forward to this story!!! ☺❤
Cats have very interesting shoulder structures. I’ve seen videos of them falling from great heights and land on feet with little to no injury. One was a snow leopard that fell off a CLIFF, got up and ran away!! Hopefully Sophie will do well, but still may need help from a friendly raccoon!!

I’m betting on Gutter to the rescue of one poor little declawed indoor kitty. I hope she’s not too scared of him!
Our raccoons live right alongside two very determined feral cats, one giant black male we call “that spooky booger” and a calico long-haired female we call “the floofle.” Another lady in the neighborhood has abducted and adopted the last batch of kittens the floofle had but so far no success trapping her to spay. Anyway, they ignore each other most of the time, but when it got to be baby season, Big Momma raccoon was seen chasing floofle out of the yard before leading her tiny ones outside. Don’t want anyone getting overly excited and causing an accident!
Oh carp! Maybe Sophie will get rescued by her not-so-secret admirer? It took me a bit to figure out what had happened as I’ve never seen a window that opened like that.
If there was ever a cat meant for indoors, lying on fainting couches and hiding under the chifforobe, Sophie is it. If she just stays there and calls out, I am sure her people will rescue her. But, alas, I fear her nature will make this more complicated.
Yes folks these are the actual lyrics for The Great Escape Theme song. They were never used in the movie but did play for a short time on the radio back in 1968 when the movie came out. Now for the Sophie Version………
Obveeously it one of em eevil ghost cats who is push poor hapless innocent cat to her death. Them diabolical invisible fiends. Time to puts an end to them demonic spectres of eevil. Who you gonna calls?
Oh no! Will Gutter come running, when he discovers that his lady love, is in trouble? Will the construction guys come back and find out, their baby girl is really a bouncy, baby boy? Tune in tomorrow at this same, cat time, at the same cat channel!
I love all the cheesy rom-com plot ideas and comments out there. Laughed all the way through the comments today. If only it were a little darker outside, Gutter might have been pining in the bushes (perhaps checking on the new window) and Sophie could possibly have fallen right into his arms… I’m sure Georgia has something much better up her watercolor-stained sleeve. Can’t wait.
Hey, I once came home to a popped out screen and had to go looking around the building for a cat. Fortunately I found my totally indoor cat Jeremiah hunkering under a bush around the corner and very relieved to be brought back inside. I’m not suggesting “Jemmy” ’s extreme roundness was why I immediately assumed he had broken the screen out, rather than worry about burglars.
We had screens like that in our Victorian house several years ago. Our daughter’s cat wound up at our house, and could push out the bottom of the screen to get out in the yard. Then she would sit on the porch looking indignant until someone let her in.

Suddenly, I saw one of those orange and white striped hazard barrels that had obviously been run over just inside the left lane (there’s no shoulder there and there was only one other barrel there, which was upright and undamaged right up against the guard rail). The car directly in front of me managed to avoid the loose barrel, but the air generated by its passing started the barrel bouncing and flipping, and the !@#$%^& thing slammed into my car, leaving a big scrape, denting the fender and quarter panel and causing a place over the tire well to bow out. Meanwhile, Back on the Nile
At the Artisan’s Studio
Maat-Tilda: I think this tapestry is not only beautiful, but fun.
Arachna: I thought I’d weave a net to hold flowers in.
Adobe Style: And I’d like to add some of Fe-Anaro’s jewels to look like stars.
Sometime Later
Tillie: It’s really nice, but it does need a little something extra.
Adobe: I think Sophititi was planning to add some flowers.
Ari: Where is she? I haven’t seen her for awhile.
Adobe: Maybe she went to Cosmo’s Nursery for Trevor-Hotep’s latest flowers.
Tillie: Let’s ask Emma Peelia.
At the Royal Stable
Emma Peelia: I know my husband Avenger was planning to go to the Cosmo Nursery today. He should be back this evening.
Adobe: Did anyone go with him?
Diana: Yes he went with Uncle Loopy. And I think Soph.
Ari: Hopefully she’s in good paws. Or at least good hooves.
Emma: Just remember which flowers are in bloom right now.
