Most problems are transitory. So if you just wait a bit – about the time it takes to make and enjoy a cocktail – the problem will take care of itself. If the problem is still there then the cocktail (if it was a good one) will have put you in a more relaxed frame of mind and better positioned to tackle the issue. Trying to tackle a problem while you are worried and stressed is not a good starting point as the bad emotions will start a negative feedback loop.

Cocktails are not a good way to cope, in the long run drinking makes matters worse.

Now THAT is my kind of manual for being an adult. I bet there’s a recipe for espresso martinis in there.

Alcohol will make some people who are old enough to drink it act the way they did when they weren’t old enough to drink it.

Since I’ve retired, my alcohol usage has dropped to maybe one drink a month. Maybe it’s the employers that feed that need.

Alcohol is seen as a coping mechanism, but often leads to addiction.

Using alcohol to cope is a good way to get rid of all those other little annoyances, like family, home, money, friends, and gainful employment.

It’ll be about 105 degrees this afternoon. I won’t worry as long as my gin and tonic (and ice) hold out.

Easy to cope. Just go to your local hardware store and get a coping saw.
