Well I am not buying any of this. Too bad there wasn’t a last dance song for a high school dance.

“And she’s climbing the stairway to Hoboken.” The song has forever changed for me.

Best song title ever:“Several Species of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together in a Cave and Grooving with a Pict,” also from Pink Floyd.

I love the story Billy Strayhorn told about how “Take the A Train” came to be. He said that Duke was having a practice at his place and his directions were just “You know, just take the A-train.”

The name Led Zeppelin is said to have originated from a humorous conversation between several musicians about the new band’s chances of success. According to one account, Keith Moon of The Who and John Entwistle suggested that a supergroup with Jimmy Page and Jeff Beck would be unsuccessful, and that the idea would “go down like a lead balloon”. The band dropped the “a” from “lead” so that people wouldn’t pronounce it “leed”, and replaced “balloon” with “zeppelin”. Music journalist Keith Shadwick says that “zeppelin” evoked “the perfect combination of heavy and light, combustibility and grace” for Page.

Except that they stole the name of a Neil Sedaka song. He later forgave them.
