I gotta admit, Caufield’s reasoning is why I still push my mower any hour or so every week to get the lawn mowed. Although I keep my shirt on. Any more than twenty minutes of sun exposure causes my skin to involuntarily turn red, and that can get more uncomfortable than any after-day ache from the hour’s exertion I get from mowing.
Most everyone in my sub who mows their own lawn uses an electric mower. Saves the hassle of buying and storing gas. Most owners use landscapers though, and they all use gas.
We have a gas-powered, riding mower. The Hubs knees won’t take him doing the walking necessary to mow our lawn. But, we set it at it’s highest setting, don’t mow until the end of May & don’t mow every week, ever. We have a lovely, pesticides & fertilizer free yard, filled with violets, clover, dandelions, creeping charlie & a host of insects & birds. We’re contemplating re-wilding part of the yard, but, the best part has a small tree we can’t move & it’s not tall enough yet, to hold it’s own against the “wild” part of “re-wilding”!
So Mallett is really comfortable with body shaming. The teacher should be pushing back on the kid body shaming, not going along with it. Wait till that kid is in high school and comment on the girls online.
Frazz once told Caulfield that he uses a push mower because he doesn’t want to be seen doing the “suburbian squat”. (Actually, if you really had to “squat” on those mowers instead of sitting, you would get amazing thighs.)
A landscaper with a leaf blower blew debris in my face as I rode by on my bike yesterday. Crap like that happened all day until I had a meltdown in Walmart because the self checkout didn’t use words to tell me what I did, instead a bright red light and blaring sound, as if scanning or whatever I did was a crime.

Not necessarily!

Plant clover, it doesn’t need mowing and holds up well to foot traffic and blooms.
