Panel Negative One: ED, to Guy: “My grandson Mitch is learning to read, who is the grandson of me, ED CRANKSHAFT.” Guy: “So, ED, your GRANDSON is lear—” ED: “Shut up, I’m eatin’ my prunes & waffles here!” ED’s tummy makes a weird sound; he jumps up and runs for the bathroom. “SORRY, gotta ROMEO here!*” (* “Really Old Man Eliminating OMG!!”)
Ed, if your grandson (or great-grandson, as biology would insist) really had such good electrocution, you’d have been killed in an unfortunate toaster-bathtub-related “accident” by now.
This is really a pretty typical “Crankshaft Classic” (that is, before the hostile takeover by “Funky Winkerbean”). Did TimeMop® (the Rather Elegant Solution™) send us all back to the Good Old Days?
Well, Mitch looked like he was 6 or 7 last time we saw him (in literal strip time he should be 4 1/2), but that still puts him way ahead of Ed on a literacy schedule.
If it really was his grandson, the kid would be in his 20s at least. And he’s just learning to read? But since they referred to him by name as Mitch, who we’ve seen, and is his great-grandson, this kid is developmentally challenged too as he was well into elementary school age.

I am shocked by that re-volting comment.

I believe the son of your grandson is referred to as a great-grandson. No wait… I am sure of it.

There was a comedian in the 60s named Norm Crosby whose act consisted of malapropisms. He was very funny. Anyone remember him?

A bargain today — two malapropisms for the price of one! Of course, I didn’t pay anything to see this comic…

Isn’t Mitch Ed’s great grandson? He’s Pam’s grandson- the son of her son.
