There’s something that has occurred to me. Gutter has a bad eye. Wicket has been provided a home, in part because of his broken beak. Maybe Sophie and Tommy’s Woman could adopt Gutter. People do have raccoons as pets and he and Sophie appear to be bonding.
Jailbreaks, lionel richie refrences, what a time to be alive. Also glad this story is both reaching the climax it feels like and is in a more joyous mood. Don’t get me wrong, so far it’s been incredible… it’s just a lot wondering week to week if sophie’s going to get out of this nightmare okay, then gutter AND sophie. I mean I knew they would, but Georgia is a good enough writer for that to not be a forgone conclusion and unlike the war last year there wasn’t a solution in sight. I mean there HOW they’d win the war wasn’t, but beating Montague was the clear endgame, then wicket and montague when it became clear who the real final boss was. Here till now even with the heist HOW this all wraps up has been murky.
Yesterday, @uncle snipe commented – The Maple Syrup Massacre! And while I don’t think I (or Go Comics or anyone) has the stamina for 18+ minutes, the first thing I thought of (…with full orchestration and five part harmony and stuff like that…)
This song is called Sophie’s Syrup Spill and it’s about Sophie, and Gutter, and the Robber Mice, and a Tidy Woman and a whole bunch of syrup (and glitter) and a glorious piece of art at a Tidy House. Sophie’s Syrup Spill is not the name of the piece of art, although I suppose it could be, or the syrup it’s just the name of the song, and that’s why I called the song Sophie’s Syrup Spill.
You can do anything you want at the (formerly) Tidy HouseYou can get anything you want at the (formerly) Tidy HouseWalk right in, kitchen’s around the backJust a half a mile from the Big Pink House (we wish)You can get anything you want at the (formerly) Tidy House
Now it all started around the 4th of July, – just a few days ago around the 4th of July, when Sophie was enjoying her newly installed old window, but Sophie doesn’t live in the Tidy House, she lives in the Big Pink House, on the first floor, with her buddy Tommy and Her Woman. And living in the Big Pink House, there’s a lot of room for a bunch of other cats who live on other floors. And outside there’s a lot of space for a whole bunch of wild critters like raccoons and moles and possums.
I want to buy prints of this whole story. But it would be better to make this a book, please. Your take on this story is one of the reasons I have followed you for years. Thank you Georgia Dunnn
I saw What A Feeling and my first thought was Irene Cara from Flashdance. And I can hear that playing in my head reading this strip. I find it interesting the different takes on a title mentioned here.
The pantry has a ridiculous numbers of the exact same boxes. Our artist has depicted Tidy Woman’s personality even here. I’ve seen this in decor magazines: They buy groceries based on the color and arrange them artfully. With nothing but 24 cans of tomato sauce and 4 bags of chips (purple flavor only) and 3 bottles of expensive water, my pantry would look perfect too! But I’d have an awful diet.
I have a functoning car again YAY! From yesterday evening:
The “check engine” light came on [last Saturday] when the ignition coil went bad & fouled out all the spark plugs. Then the techs found that the exhaust manifold was cracked & leaking, so they had to replace that too (which ended up being over half the cost of the job). I’m just glad I’ve been squirreling away money for just such an emergency!
Other than replacing the brakes 5 years ago, this is the first repair this 18yo car has needed since we bought it 6½ years ago. With other aging cars, it’s been $400 here, $500 there, $800 elsewhere, etc., adding up to a lot more than the big chunk I spent this time. So in a way I feel like I’ve been lucky.
The “check engine” light still came on with the first replcement coil they tried, so I took her back in & they installed a different brand. That one seems to have done the trick. =crosses fingers=
Also, J seems to be getting settled in & finding some of the stuff she needs. Maybe the movers didn’t botch it up as badly as she thought. We’ll see. Also, she bought a different, sturdier shower bench because the tub in her temp quarters doesn’t have grab bars. Excellent move! Sis has an extra handheld shower head, & I’m taking that with me when I go home.
Finally, asking for (((((HUGGZ))))) & PURRRRRRRRRRZ & prayers & other good juju for sis, who’s having a breast biopsy this morning. The imaging team said the other day that the spot is most likely benign, but they want to make sure. I’m holding off heading home until she comes back from that.
As always, metric bonkers’ worth of THANKS & (((((HUGGZ))))) & PURRRRRRRRRRZ to the Mega-Orb for your support thru all my whining & griping. You’re the greatest! ❤❤❤❤❤
Maat-Tilda: Great idea. I wonder if Thomios has any cinnamon scones.
Adobe Style: Whatever he has baked, you can be sure it’ll be delicious. Ari, you coming with us?
Arachna: Sure thing. I hope Thomios has some vegetable mash prepared. (This is true. Spiders are known to nosh on vegetables.)
Soph: Let’s go.
At the Royal Kitchen
Sue Chef: Welcome Ladies! What can we do you for?
Soph: We were hoping you had some scones and tea available.
Ari: And maybe some vegetable mash?
Sue: I think we can come up with something delicious for everyone. Right now we’re experimenting with some rather sticky ingredients, like the maple syrup we found at the oPyramid.
Adobe: I remember that. Iggy, Bea, and the explorers found a room with all sorts of imperishable foods.
Sue: That’s right. We’re running low on maple syrup, but the Royal Procurers are working on it. There’s no telling how they’ll find it.
Tillie: I would love to try something sticky and cinnamony.
Enter Terpsichore (Kira) From the Xanadu Hive
Kira: Hello, everyone!
Sue: Welcome, Xanadu Bee. Please make yourself at comb. Would you like some Dilly Daisies?
Kira: That would be most appreciated. The reason I’ve come is we’ve made some new Blossom of Blessing Honey and wondered if you’d like some.
Sue: We’d love some!
Soph: That would go great with cinnamon pastry! Rather sticky, but delicious!
And look, they still have their full glitter bags! I wonder if that will be added to the kitchen chaos, or used to enhance that lovely sterile living room? Either way, it will be glorious.

Encore Presentation from July 2nd: Thin Lizzy: Jailbreak
Tonight there’s gonna be a jailbreak
Out of this posh house
I just don’t like staying here
With Destry’s help it’s going down!
…….
Out of this crate, you got it straight
If you see them coming I think it’s best
I’m going away, do you hear what I say
I’m gonna take a deep breath!
…….
Robber Mice, Gutter, and Friends: Tonight there’s gonna be a jailbreak
At the posh end of this town
Tonight there’s gonna be a jailbreak
And we’ll be coming ’round!
…….
Tonight there’s gonna be glitter!
Bright colors everywhere!
All over the pristine white parlor!
For Sophie we’ll be there!
