I remember when I was 5 or 6, I went with my grandmother to the five & dime, came back with a new dart pistol, shooting all afternoon. My grandfather watched Walter Cronkite every night without fail. I was sitting in the middle of the floor waiting for the news to go, I leveled the sights square between Walters eyes & cocked my pistol.I turned to look at my grandad, who, simply stared back at me, without a word and just shook his head “No”.I turned back to Walter and FIRED.My grandfather was the type to hand me his pocket knife & tell me to go cut a switch. So worth it.

If the dad was on a smart phone his obliviousness would be more credible. Are these comics from the pre-tech days?
