I’m sorry to see that Roger Daltry of the “Who” has gone deaf from all the loud concerts theyhave done.. some exceeding 120 decibels. Hope Elizabeth doesn’t suffer the same fate.
Elly is such a control freak she kept trying to make her dog bark at the door… but she’s not willing to simply take her daughter’s headphones off her head?
Which is actually what I would do if I could hear the child and they showed no signs of hearing me. Their long-term hearing is more important than the look of their door.
We didn’t use headphones in the car when we went on long car trips. I remember the last one: it was just my parents, my younger brother & me, but we stopped in Maryland to pick u my oldest sister. She was 30 & I was 17. My dad was good about having the radio on pop stations (although he preferred country). However, I’m sure he was regretting that when “Crocodile Rock” came on & my sister & I really got into belting the ♫ LAAAAAAA lalalala LAAAAAAAA ♫ part. Yeah, she may have been 30 and me, 17, but when that song came on, we both turned 12!
I gotta admit, I took the headphones away from my daughter once when she was a kid and I could hear the music coming from her headset in the backseat of the car after telling her the music was too loud and she ignored me. Fast forward twenty years and she now has 2 kids of her own and has to deal with the same thing. Although now the earbuds are wireless and get lost much more easily. I don’t think I’ve ever know anyone to lose their wired earplugs.
I did this at work once, my boss yelled at me saying that I wouldn’t be able to hear her, I said that was the idea. I got yelled at again but it was worth it.
And Ellie hasn’t reached back and snatched the head -phones off Elizabeth’s head by the fourth panel because? My mom would have after the first ask with no responce.
Yep, there’s a lot of young people going deaf from stuff like that.Honorable (?) mention to the guys playing the music loud enough to be heard/felt through their closed car windows AND my closed car windows. They’ll never hear any emergency vehicle sirens and it’s just dangerous to be driving that way.Although just once, while I was waiting in a high school parking lot, to drown out the ‘f this f that’ rap I was hearing, I blared the 1812 Overture. Surprisingly, the guy turned his volume down a bit.
All this about “chaka boom” reminds me of when I had an MRI. I was really nervous and the Tech blindfolded me to set me at ease and gave me earplugs. While in the “tube” I could hear the machine doing it’s thing. Sounded like a bass drum playing. I kept tapping my feet and was told to be still. When I was brought out, I told them “it had a nice beat and you could dance to it”. (American Bandstand) LOL
That’s a bit ironic, as the Ol’ Hippie’s peers usually went to those “Dude! Kegger! Party Animal! FM, man!!” shows where the volume was beyond the threshold of pain. That said, there is still a generation gap. We’re on the other side of it now. And we’re STILL RIGHT!!!!

The music is so loud it drowns out Elly all except for the punctuation. I wonder how loud she needs to go to get the punctuation too.

She has the music loud so she can’t hear April, probably…

Whippersnapper! ..MY generation went deaf the old-fashioned way — by going to rock concerts.

And if she becomes permanently deaf, she’ll really be rid of her mother’s big mouth!

Isn’t April too old for that “baby” car seat? What are the laws in Canada regarding kids travelling in cars?

Good thing John is keeping his eyes on the road. While Elly is arguing with Elizabeth; a red Ferrari drives by driven by a blonde
Tonight’s the night we’re gonna make it happen
Tonight we’ll put all other things aside
Give in this time and show me some affection
We’re going’ for those pleasures in the night
I want to love you, feel you
Wrap myself around you
I want to squeeze you, please you
I just can’t get enough
And if you move real slow, I’ll let it go
I’m so excited, and I just can’t hide it
I’m about to lose control and I think I like it
I’m so excited, and I just can’t hide it
And I know, I know, I know, I know, I know I want you
