There was actually a challenge that went out a number of years ago to build a house that could withstand a magnitude 9 quake. Only one entry made it, with a form of rocking suspension that not only saved the house from collapse, but most items inside were not damaged. In fact, they pushed it past the challenge limit and it withstood an incredible magnitude ten! (That’s ten times greater than a 9.)

Sorry, have no clue where the video link is.

It’s fine for earthquakes and floods, but I suspect trouble during a hurricane or tornado. And I bet it drives carpenters crazy trying to get the floors level.

More seriously, giant shock absorbers in the foundation of a building are a thing. They’re used on skyscrapers in regions that have a lot of seismic activity, like Japan and California.

It’s not 100% Earthquake Proof. It’s still connected to the ground. If the ground goes, it’s going to go. It would almost have to be floating above the surface for it to be 100% "resistant. Even then, Primary Earthquake Waves can even go through the air.

Darden’s restaurant Season 52 in Miami. Wanted springs under AC units for quakes, Miami wanted tied down straps for hurricane winds. The straps had to be so tight that the springs lost all effect. I could tell you more details on that build!
