I’m assuming that Tabitha and Sir Figaro are accomplished, fluent speakers of the feline variety of Spanish (most likely a variety of Catalan.) But Burt, being a barn cat, is not a native speaker. He’s doing a great job with the closed-caption word balloons and snarky running commentary, but he’s really more of an audiovisual dude than translator. Maybe there would be a way to let Tabitha review and edit the tape before broadcast. On the other hand, Burt’s imperfect translations might prompt greater viewer engagement and get some idea whether there’s enough of a Spanish-speaking audience to warrant ads in that language.
Also, Georgia, I’m so curious as to Tabitha and Sir Figaro’s backstory! Their woman seems to be anglophone (I could be wrong) and they live in Rhode Island. How did Tabitha become fluent in so many languages (including iirc, squirrel)? And Sir Figaro only speaks Spanish. Were they rescued from the harsh climate of Patagonia? Did they survive an earthquake in Mexico City? Did they sneak into a baggage compartment in Spanish Sahara? Was their first woman a grandmother from Sevilla who moved into a retirement home? Inquiring minds!
¡Muchas gracias Tabitha y Sir Fig para sus reportaje muy informativo! (Go easy on me “star Spanish pupils,” and remember it’s been cincuenta y cuatro años since I studied Spanish II, and my aging eyeballs are having trouble with the pequeño print on my Spanish/English dictionary’s yellowed, ancient, crumbling pages.) May this be the first of many more informative reports. Thank you Georgia for finding a way to include them in BCN again.
So Sir Fig’s going to check the tiny pumpkin like Morgan Spurlock did the McDonald’s french fries in “Super Size Me.” Those things really were immortal.
I’m surprised Elvis wasn’t complaining about the noise from above (the swatted pumpkins, as well as the cats chasing/pouncing). Maybe that is why Tabitha decided to be proactive and do a special report to keep peace with the other BPH neighbors.
Got my copy of Goldie a couple of days ago, and I’m so happy! I had forgotten that Queen Mag’s tribe had featured so prominently in Goldie’s story. (NO SPOILERS HERE!!!)
I really enjoyed this week! It was fun to see this playful side of Tabatha and Sir Figuero Newton. Sweet also to see the diversity of cats and owners in the real world reflected in the small town of BCN. And it was fun to test out my middling knowledge of Spanish (I’m a much better eavesdropper and reader than speaker) before reading the captions each day. I really appreciate Georgia having the courage to try a bilingual strip! Hope we are lucky enough to see the GN crew again soon.
Now there only two possible explanations for this gleetch. It was aliens. Or it was gremlins. But then, alien astronut theorists is suggest that gremlins is really aliens!
Oops, it appears to just be BCN this time. Probably just forgot to schedule the upload. Otherwise, I hope everything is okay? Just a hint of a worried Puck face..
i’ve just sent Georgia a direct message to alert her. This isn’t her problem, but when she wakes up, at least she’ll have a notice of what’s happening.
There is small a small power outage in the county she lives in. Maybe she has been briefly transported back to the 19th century. It used to be the artists were responsible for uploading their own content. I remember back in the olden days this would happen when she’d occasionally get busy and forget to or had troubles hitting “publish”.
No BCN? I read BCN on purpose. The other comics are just there. What a BUMMER! Oh, wait. Did I say that in my outloud voice? Not the way I want to start my day, she said, selfishly. Hope everything’s OK with Georgia.
Me hopes this just some technical difficulties. And until BCN is back online, enjoys today’s FREE RANGE and OFF THE MARK, for some aMEWsing Cat Mews. They is both right here on Go Comics.
Hello everyone, I myself am not certain why there is no BCN strip here or on Arcamax. There is a strip today, however seeing it is a Sunday I imagine this may not be resolved until offices open on Monday. While I’m also bummed, there are thousands of days where this went right, and I’m sure it’ll be fixed as soon as it can be. Fingers crossed!
I remembered our local library has images of the local newspaper online and just spent way too much time finding it — it was totally worth it (hope it shows up here soon though)
Hello everyone!! I sooooo rarely post slides of an entire strip to social media—however, this is an emergency!! I just posted today’s strip in panel slides on the BCN Instagram and Facebook. It is not ideal, but it’s something! And hopefully if you don’t have FB or Instagram (I get it!) you can still see it on one of them without an account. If not, hopefully this should be fixed when offices open tomorrow.
When you see this report, you’ll understand why newspapers across the country probably had to shelve it for asking the hard questions… A joke I make because this might be one of the most hilarious strips this could have happened to?? And I know we shouldn’t start rumors, but OH MY CAT it would be so funny to remember this strip as “the one that asked a question so scandalous, it was pulled from papers…” You’ll see what I mean… it’s… kind of delightful it happened to this one??
Anyway! Just this once, we go live to FB/Instagram where Puck and Beatrix are standing by—
I do have to say that our newspaper in Sioux City—the Sioux City Journal was running your Sunday only feature until a couple of weeks ago when they purged all of the current comics in favor of adding “Comics Kingdom” to their website. Over 100 comics on the web for subscribers only, probably a package buy with all of the Lee Enterprises newspapers nationwide. Many are new, many are old (Mary Worth, the Phantom, etc.) most are weird—aimed at teens/young adults. Few are created by women! It’s sad…
Fellow Orbsters, if you have a facebook account, you can view the strip on Georgia’s facebook page. She went to some effort to post it cel by cel for us! Thank you Georgia!
If you go to the About tab, you will see a Facebook link. That should take you right to Georgia’s page. There will be a logon screen but just click or tap the X and you will see the regular screen. You can tap or click on the +5 and the entire set of cels will come up.
It’s the “Glitch-Witch”! She shows up from time to time just to wreak havoc on unsuspecting comic readers and writers. Kind of like the June bug but far less useful or entertaining.
Gosh, I have enjoyed BCN so very much so far in September! Well, I enjoy it always, of course, but the cuteness levels have been off the charts every single day! I haven’t yet stopped grinning over Tabitha’s therapy suggestion chart, Puck’s pacifist moon, teaching the next gen of leaf battlers, Ora Zella’s Sherlock outfit, the closet disaster (been there.) Every single day has been awwww/squeeeee/rotfl -worthy. I have loved so much seeing Tabitha and Sir Fig, who usually look pretty serious, being thrilled over the tiny pumpkins this week. Thank you, Georgia and Orb, for being here! We may not have the Sunday comic yet, but so lovely to have friends to share our love of cats and Georgia’s talents!

Iggy: Looks like we’re in fine shape for creating the interactive tapestry. I heard giggling in the background.
Beatrixia: Next thing, let’s visit Trevor-Hotep at the Cosmo Nursery.
Iggy: Sounds good.
Ora Z: Maybe we can find some pumpkins to roll like lawn potatoes.
Sometime Later
Trevor-Hotep: Welcome! It’s always good to see my Ancient Egyptian friends.
Ora Z: Are your pumpkins ready for rolling and shredding?
Trevor: Why not go over to the pumpkin patch and see?
Ora Z: Hello, pumpkins. Are you ready to roll?
Pumpkin: Hello, Ms Ora. It’s genuinely good to see you.
Pumpkin 2: We like to roll, but would prefer you don’t shred us.
Beatrixia: I can tell you really mean that.
Pumpkin 1: We always try to be honest.
Iggy: I can tell this is a patch of sincere pumpkins.
Pumpkin 2: Just wait until the Feast of Candy night.

Now the station hears from the tiny pumpkins:
♫ We’ve been yeeted
Been mistreated
When will we be loved?
We’ve been knocked down
We’ve been pushed ’round
When will we be loved?
When cats think we don’t mind
It’s such a crime
It always shakes our world view
It happens every time
C’mon cats, shoo!
When will you decide to?
Why are we still shoved? ♫
