Well, now Ed’s back, but the comic strip has still fallen and it can’t get up. Just ducky.
And exactly how does appropriating Smiley Ball, the mascot of the Worcester Red Sox, and putting him on a poster inside the polling place attract younger voters? They won’t see it until they’re inside to vote.
Leave it to Batiuk to make me wonder what’s going on at Mopey Montoni’s.
“JEEPERS, Darrin!” said a random blonde. “When you wear glasses, you look 30 years older and STARVING! Have a delicioso Montini’s pizza blob-object! It has DRACULA PEE!” Darrin gasped, “Do you not SEE?! The coming of—HIM?! The DESTROYER? HE—the MONSTER, the MADMAN—who does NOTHING BUT SIDEWAY STRIPS?”
I’m glad Cranky was brought out of the box yinz guys store him in for election day at least, and, of course it’s a big laugh that the poll worker tells two of us oldies that they are ‘trying to encourage younger voters’, as if suggesting that younger people (who probably have trouble getting time off of work) would be discouraged by seeing two gray-haired gents in line. Why would they be? And maybe some of them voted by mail, like I did. I just don’t get why yinz guys have to keep this sideways stuff going. Nobody likes it. Don’t you care about that at all?
I guess the authors of this strip don’t read the comments or they’d know that most of us HATE the sideways garbage! If this doesn’t straighten up soon I will delete this strip from my queue. I haven’t been able to read it all this week because it hurts my neck to try to stretch it.
This sideways stuff is getting out of hand. There’s no reason for these comic strips to be sideways.
I wish someone would make these clowns actually draw, ink, and letter these strips sideways. Maybe then they’d realize what a pain the patootie it is to read them.
Trying to encourage more younger voters. With Pac-Man? Who? Generation X? Batyuk doesn’t exactly have his finger on the pulse of the younger generations, does he?
i don’t understand why GoComics doesn’t rotate these sideways comics, Super-Fun-Pak Comix has the occasional vertical comic presented vertically, so why not these? My guess is the creators of Crankshaft only submit the comic sideways because they are lazy. When a comic is presented in this format I just skip it .
So, by Batty’s logic… my local polling place just replaced all their “click-wheel” voting machines with touch screens to appeal to the post-iPod generation?
Thought experiment: what would the USA be like if people from 18 to 25 had voted in proportion to their share of the population over the past few decades?

Looks like it could be a video game machine, the voting between parties could be based on “Angry birds”

GoComics should institute a sideways tax.

Why isn’t the guy in the adjacent booth looking at the voting machine’s screen? He looks like he’s standing at a urinal.

Also, WHY do people keep whining about this comic strip? I’d think that even idiots could learn that if you don’t like something don’t READ it.
