    Good morning™, everyone!

Eric Costello back again for guest writing. He has been here more than Mike Curtis lately.

I wonder if this looks more like Dick Tracy’s fictional city or more like Chicago. The second tall building on the left does resemble the Tribune Tower quite a bit.

At this point, they might as well give Matty a shot at writing a story.

Unfortunately I think it’s come to the point that the powers that be at Dick Tracy need to make a decision about who is the writer is going forward. Mike, who is the official writer of Dick Tracy, has now become more absent than present as the writer to the point that there needs to be a statement from them. Be it it Eric, who many here criticise often, so be it as long as it’s an official statement. Because in the end it could, and I emphasise could, hurt the strip if a concrete decision isn’t made.

Let me add that I have no ill will towards Mike and hope he’s doing well.

“The storied history of Tracy’s city is reflected in its building…”

Again with the mirror talk? I thought the Minit Mystery was over.

Maybe this story will be a deep dive into the world of architecture— that’d be right up Esoteric Eric’s alley!

I like Eric’s writing, but the best way to NOT start off a story is with a one panel skyline image and 11 words…the first thing I did when I saw today’s offering was a deep sigh, if THIS is how it begins, it does not bode well for the rest of the story…its a bland, monochromatic image with no “life” to it whatsoever….HOPEFULLY it’s all uphill from here

What a fascinating open! I’m hooked! I can almost hear Joe Friday intoning “This is the city…_blah blah blah… And when they do, that’s where I come in – I’m a cop.”

1- DT: Hello. This is Chief Detective Tracy speaking. SAM: HELLO? TRACY? I’M LOST AGAIN! CAN YOU COME FIND ME? HELLO? DT: Sigh Yeah. Shoot your gun in the air every 5 minutes and I’ll follow the sound.

SAM: Uhhh…I left it at home…

I don’t think we’ve ever seen Main Police HQ from the OUTSIDE. As long as we’re doing buildings….

And Tracy hit the beveled roof of the World Insurance Building(Putty Puss origin)

Here’s hoping this new story contains some PERIL: e.g., fire, shootings, kidnappings, poisonings, chases, torture, hostages, etc. We also need some detective work, of course, but that work should always be done under a time-crunch, as danger closes in.

Oh Gee, Costello again. Why can’t we get Abbott? Pull up a pillow folks, it’s probably going to be another long, boring snoozefest as Mr. Tolstoy… er.. Costello thrills us with another graphic novel disguised as a daily continuity.

What are all you nimrods going on about? This strip has no plots, no character development. Something happens and then Tracy pulls some rabbit out of his anatomy that no one knew about and the villain is foiled. No motivations, no backstories, no consequences. It doesn’t matter who is writing, it’s nothing more than sentimental pop art on a digital canvas.
