Looks like yapping dogs are everywhere, trying to do their duty. I wish their owners would control them, especially late evening, and in the early hours. (A multiple dog owner, over many decades).
From the early centuries of Christianity, Nov. 1 and 2 have been observed as days to remember the dead. This remembrance most likely originated in Celtic lands where this time of year marks the beginning of death in nature.
Eternity in heaven? Scientists estimate that the universe will suffer heat death in about 150 billion years. After this amount of time, you still haven’t reached 1% of eternity. You will never reach 1% of eternity. Sounds exhausting. Just let my existence end, please.
Ain’t no division of “rock stars” and “common sinners” in Heaven, we’re all brothers and sisters saved by grace through the faith of Jesus Christ. -- First Timothy 1:15 This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief. -- Galatians 2:16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.
There is the saying, “I sold my soul for Rock n Roll”. So, I don’t think there are many Rock stars in heaven. I don’t know how religious rock stars make it.
Oof, a little off there, Jimmy. All Saints Day commemorates Christians in Heaven, whether or not they are “rock stars.” All Souls remembers all the faithful who have died, including those who are in purgatory.
Let’s assume “God” (without defining That) created the universe. If you are unhappy here, what makes you think you would enjoy any other place God created?
Funny, all these comments. We are all born, each with a different state in life. Some are rich, some poor. Some are pretty and some are ugly or plain. We have nochoice. We are blessed with life and with whatever is given to us,because it is given with a reason. We can accept it or we can fightit. We are either men or women, God does not make mistakes. It doesn’t matter if we believe or not, one way or another we will do His will,if not we will lose our souls. There is only one person we have to answerto, Him, God. It is all about Him, not us. No matter how hard you try,you will die and whether you believe in Him or not, you will face Him. NK
I have heard of heaven, purgatory and He**. I never knew the was a roped off area for common sinners. Is that because they are waiting to be interviewed by God to see if the are truly remorseful for their transgressions and show they are worthy of entering his kingdom?
I often chuckle when I read what those who don’t believe the Bible is the Word of God and/or seem to hate/dispise/etc Christianity spew hate or derogatory terms on those of us who do believe. But then they claim it is us who say those things when most of us don’t think that way at all.
I am an unbeliever, and I envy those who believe. I never disparage anyone’s religious beliefs, providing that his religion does not sanction violence on those who believe differently.
Why does Arlo know and understand what All Souls Day is about, but Janis does not? Arlo is correct in what he states. Janis, for once, appears to be clueless.
And for those of you who decided to go off on your respective rants, Abraham was not even hinted at in this strip.

Rock stars and jazz musicians in Heaven? Considering their reputed drug use and sexual practices, I will bet that it’s a pretty small party.

If the belief is that everyone goes to Heaven/Paradise right after they die, good luck with that……
