Like say, “Honey? You already Are a Strong, Positive Person. And I thank my lucky stars each and every day that you allowed me to be a part of YOUR life!”
See? Piece of cake.
Now have “fun” sleeping on the couch for the rest of the week……., ;-)
Nancy knows Frank is attempting to assure her that she is already strong and positive. She also knows that he is clumsy with compliments. Nancy is not in the mood so she is trying to defuse any romantic ideas Frank might be entertaining. Sorry Frank, no dessert tonight.
Phil was a one time character. Luann most likely said, “And bring him”, as a light hearted joke to Mrs. Horner. She wasn’t being serious. Also, Bernice wasn’t at their dinner either. Probably having dinner with her real family.
Luann walks Mrs. Horner home. I hope next week is about her talking to the nurses who care for her to learn more about their jobs. I still think she could be a good nurse or doctor, especially with kids. Frank’s huge gaffe aside, it’s nice to know how much Nancy has grown fond of Mrs. Horner. Maybe in the future she and Luann will visit her together.
This was a nice Thanksgiving arc. Mrs. Horner made it special and there was no drama. I remember the Christmas arc last year…the family trip to that cabin. It felt long and drawn out. Plus nothing really happened. I don’t mean anything dramatic, I just mean a nice time with good conversation. Maybe invite Mrs. Horner this year!
Having known a few people who endured dialysis for a season, it’s not for the faint hearted. One such person described it as, “Getting beaten up three times per week”.
Do wives really punish their husbands by refusing to sleep with them? Or is this another sitcom trope? I’ve never been married, myself, so I don’t know.
Oops. I do that all too often. Say something that should be good and then realize/find out it can be interpreted another way entirely. At least he caught it immediately and corrected! I hope that worked.
Touching on a few subjects mentioned. Since they have facilities for Mrs H to have regular dialysis it is more than just a normal assisted care home. Phil could be have a future if he is available. Since Luann will be visiting regularly she is likely to bump into him again. She certainly seemed interested. Could the regular visits finally inspire Luann to her true calling to care for the aged? The staff who cared for my father in his last years were certainly saints.
Maybe Luann will be receiving a surprise inheritance. Doesn’t seem like Mrs Horner has any other living relatives and Mrs Horner may use that as a “thank you” for Luann’s kindnesses.

No Phil. So there’s one life experience Luann won’t get to experience.

One really has to admire the way Mrs. Horner looks at life and doesn’t waste time feeling sorry for herself.

Only Nancy could misinterpret Frank’s clearly intended compliment “you already are a strong and positive person” to mean “you already are old”.
