It seems that he’s very traditional. Linotype, as the name suggests, casts an entire line of metal type line by line. Those are all locked into a form and the page is printed from that. So, it seems that the TTTT publication is produced on letterpress. Practically no-one prints anything that way anymore except maybe some wedding invitations and business cards.

Oh, not just a humorous anachronism. Actual linotypes are interesting machines. In high school, I was on the newspaper staff. We had a field trip to The Sporting News. At the time, they were switching from linotype to computer-generated offset printing so we got to see both.

Gizmo? Clanky? Perhaps you use it because your vocabulary lands you squarely in the distant past.

Does this guy favor clanky smelly gizmos as to minimize paper trails? No wonder his workplace lacks a computer.

I must give Tracy his props…he knows how to delegate assignments. Witnessed it in yesterday’s strip.

Enquiring minds want to know why use a Linotype instead of a computer. Because computers make great evidence for prosecutors in court. 2 stars for today.

I’ve lost track of exactly what the heck is going on in this story… started with a suicide, then crypto currency, then some outdated printing methods with some “tracyness” sprinkled in between….this round and round storytelling is making my vertigo worse

Wait, that one lady is from Judge Parker, isn’t she?

Nice artworks but me no gets what on earth be going on in story. Please gets better writer.

So is Tracy going to solve the case by a stray “ETAOIN SHRDLU” printed somewhere?

“The boss really likes that old lettering style – I heard that he recently bought some old books with linotyping at some big auction.”

Is it just me, or are comments not appearing by certain comics? (Obviously, I see the comments here. And the Tracy commentators are a good bunch, so I figured they’re as good to ask as anybody.)

From today’s Comics Curmudgeon:The newspaper comics are a fundamentally great medium because there are days when you don’t know you want a whole panel of some guy with a comically archaic mustache seen from a weird angle, but then you get it and you think, “Yes, this is what I wanted. Thank you for this.”

Is Ho the Asian linotype operator then? Or is the bossman referring to himself as Ho or a ho?

Wow! This dude is living in the past. The girls need to educate him on current technology, even though that could be a full-time job in itself.

This guy seems to be very particular about his peculiarities!

3-CHERRY RED: Linotype! Old fool! SARAH SKNK: At least we’re not using tonsured monks anymore. I got tired of those old horndogs lifting their robes to show us their pious peenies! CHERRY: I kind a miss it. Plus they were amazing illustrators!

1. This guy reminds me of Tabby Angus of April 2014.

2. Linotype is so old and obsolete that this guy would need to hire his own shop and repairmen to keep it repaired and to replace broken parts.

fs is an old presser of flesh alright !  Just ask my livestock about all the times they have been “pressed” and were forced to endure a maleficent, malicious odourous funk, as he ‘relieved’ his tensions into nether cavities.

Some random questions:

1. That shield on the wall (also partially seen on Sunday) looks awfully familar. Any ideas?

2. Is the company’s phone system on analog?

3. Where is the ink and quill for the pen laying on the desk?

We’ve met our villain, who seems “veddy British” to me. I’m waiting for him to order in 4 O’Clock tea and then charge off on a fox hunt.But he also seems like one of those “entitled” people who t hinks he has enough money to get away with anything.
